Amen. Curt is just letting us know what's going on there. I'm sure a lot of the feedback he has received here in the previous months has made its way to management and is at least partially responsible for some of the upward trend at The Plaza, at least for table games. I give him kudos for being enterprising enough to post on VMB and build his book of customers as well as pass on to the decision makers some of the doable suggestions that were/are made here. Keep your chin up Curt, don't let the haters get to you.

I agree with Mike. There have been good points made on both sides of this issue. But this thread has a different mission.

My words were construed I said an otherwise unused room.
Not taking a room from a player that deserves it. As always the top players
should get the top rooms. If you have more top rooms than top players
then it becomes at play. Most desk clerks have to get approval before they
upgrade. The 20 dollars gives them the courage to even ask a higher up
    supervisor/manager.

    Curt,

Thanks for continuing you active participation and solicitation of input on this board. Clearly, even in a topical board like this there is a wide variety of opinions. We've stayed at the Plaza five time since the renovation and have only had one bad experience, our own doing since I'm sure we could have changed rooms the next day when we found out how noisy the Fremont stage was from our location. It's great that you are trying to make positive changes for the gamblers and downtown loyalists while many other properties are slowly cutting back.

One thing that's been mentioned many times since the renovation that I've yet to hear you comment on is the scent that is piped into the casino. Seems it would be a very easy thing to change. What is it? Also, you've been silent about the pool. Any rooftop ideas being floated?

Keep the floor beer selection good (like it is now), keep up the VP changes and good table games. We'll be back in September.

I just booked a room at the Plaza for four nights and was comped the first three nights (Thank you Plaza!), and the lady told me to see a host before I leave to see if the 4th night would be comped or discounted. Anyone know how much play it would take over four days for an additional comp?

Hi, I am not sure what the scent is that is piped through the casino. I can do some research. :) The pool does need some renovations, however, I am not sure what the plan is for now. As soon as I hear something I will let everyone know.

I know there is a lot of complaining about scents in casinos, but I like them. A lot. So much so that I often comment to my wife about how a random scent here at home reminds of a particular casino. Don't change a thing.

My two sisters and a good friend stayed at the Plaza the weekend of August 1. We hadn't stayed here since the room renovations. We arrived around 10:00 p.m. on Friday evening to a VERY long line at check in with only two clerks. With such a late arriving flight and the excitement of finally being in Vegas, it was extremely frustrating to wait one hour in line. I did pay attention during the next several days at the line.....I would suggest that clerks be added as our experience wasn't an isolated incident.

The hotel renovations themselves were very tasteful.....nice improvement from our last stay. We did use the pool early one morning and I was surprised at the garbage laying around. We are not a fancy group of women, but were surprised that the pool area was dirty.

It seems that more slot machines were added since our last walk through (plus) and the continuous shuffler machines at the blackjack tables are no longer there (plus).

We were able to stop by Curt's office and introduce ourselves and thank him for listening to the suggestions of this board and introduce ourselves. It was nice putting a name to a face.....he is as personable in person as he comes across on this board. Curt, thanks again.

My wife and I were there at the end of July, and I'll echo much of what's been said already. Rooms were nice(for downtown), staff was pleasant(and seemed genuinely appreciative of tips) and the pool area has worlds of potential. I didn't play as much as I normally would, due to two brutal BJ sessions, but it had decent rules. We played a poker tournament on the PokerPro machines, and it was a fun casual experience. We would stay there again.
