Just adding my 2 cents here....I am a slot player BUT only get to Vegas once a year. Every year no matter where I play (I like low end joints) I receive mailers for 2/3 free nights. The problem is they stop sending them to me after 6-9 months, so my next trip is never any good for these. ADT of course is the #1 on the list for recieving comps, but frequency of visitation plays a part also. The only exception I have found so far to this rule is CET. The MIL is a low low roller, hasn't been to a CET property in over 4 years. On the calendar with her TR number she still can get some comped rooms. She is coming with us this year and staying at Harrahs for 4 nights for free. Obviously I am talking upfront comps. If I play at Palms, Gold Coast, Eastside Cannery, Sams Town, Golden Nuggett, South Point, Silverton or Circus Circus and drop only $100 (sometimes less) I will received mailers for free rooms. CET seems to be the only place that I can get a roomcomp 12 months later so I just stick with them.

For slot players who do enjoy some licensed+progressive slots from time to time at MGM properties. What sort of comp expectation would be had for two players with linked accounts at the $400-500 each per day for 5 days range? Would it need to be concentrated at one property or is spreading it around a little a problem? We'll probably do a little bit of table play but maybe 20-25 rated average at craps for a couple hours total (not counting odds since MGM doesn't).

I know that slots can vary quite a bit in theoretical hold. We tend to be penny/nickel players but I personally will do some quarters here and there as well. Wide spread between min and max betting the whole time.

Need to know coin-in or tier credits or points to figure anything. Daily bankroll means very little.

It's more of a future guesstimate to try to figure out whether it would be worth it to focus almost exclusively on Mlife or split some with CET/Fremont. We can have fun at any casino whether we're comped or not, but it does seem to make the most sense to consolidate if it means free rooms and such. I'm curious as to the comp dollar value level that would begin to generate 2-3 night room offers at places like Mirage, MGM Grand or Bellagio.

Last trip we hit about $12,000 coin in with a budget of about $1,400 combined between the two of us. $12,000 coin in at say 10% hold, 40% comp value would be $480. Which is a fair bit more than we actually got comped. But we did a lot of MGM hopping so I would assume that only the amount spent actually at Luxor (where we were staying) would be used as comp value. Is that how they actually do it? Comp value only applying from the casino play where you're staying?

If our ratios managed to hold true we'd sit around $1,600 comp value though I know the variance in slot machines makes that a difficult estimate to give any credibility.

Just trying to learn how the system works.

Do you still have to ask the pit boss to 'rate' you these days or ...

or is it all computerized now and I will sound stupid asking to be rated?? I like to pay table games and usually am a minimum bet player but still, I play. And usually for long periods of time. I never acquire any comps though.

no it's not computerized, the pitboss actually does it by hand and then it's input into the computer later. as long as you're betting at least $25/hand you should be rated automatically. if lower than that, each property has different rules and you'll have to check. if you're worried about it, i would definitely ask.

I'd say that's possible. RFL at a minimum. The theo loss on roulette is twice that of BJ.

Again depends where you stay. lower to mid level properties are a better bet.

way more than that if you're betting inside. $100 per roll spread inside on a 00 table will be close to 10x the theo of BJ. should be RFB in a nice suite no problem. ask Tellafriend, you can get some really great comps with very few hours if you're betting high inside at roulette.

You also have to factor the number of hands / spins per hour, which significantly narrows the theo gap between a $100 blackjack and $100 roulette gambler.

Also, while a basic strategy player can narrow the house edge to 0.26-0.50 depending on the game, the average gambler has a 1-2% theo. I played with this Noir guy at the Bellagio two weeks ago who hit 12-14 against bust cards and stayed under 16 against 7-10 when he "felt it". Lost $20K in 10 minutes before changing tables in a huff to "change his luck". Good luck with that strategy.

Question on points. I have about 27,000 points on my account. Hoping to use them towards hotel bill. Approximately how much would this translate to into $$? I was thinking like $150 or so?

What casino chain? If it is a CET prop that is $270 in value. If you have accumlated 27,000 rewards credits you should be able to long into your account & get free rooms many days of the week.

Someone else should be able to help if you are referring to mLife.

At Flamingo.......I only have some free rooms up through April right now. May isnt listed as of yet. I did call too and all she would say is "we only show up through April".

Quite honestly calling them is such a joke. Its obvious they are reading from a screen--and they dont really seem interested in finding you the best rate. The BEST she could give me was $660 for 4 nights. However, thanks to a nice person on this site, they gave me a code to use that saved me over $100. So why wasnt that code offered when I called?

    Mandalay Bay Comps

I'm heading out to the Mandalay Bay for the first time in April. I play 3 Card Poker for 4 hours a night at $300 to $500 a hand. What can I expect in comps for both this visit and future invites?

    This is interesting!

I go to Vegas a lot, but I usually drop only about $150-200 in slots. While I don't generally get comped, I do get some great deals in my e-mail. (from mlife)

I actually did get 1 comp night at Mandalay Bay, going in a few weeks, I find it weird, but I will take it! It makes me feel important haha.

    Buffet comps- hard to get?

Would like to know how hard it is to get buffet comps. Staying at Luxor w/ room comps for 2 nights end of May. If I asked casino host for buffet comps, would I be likely to get them?
I am lowest level MLife, definitely not High Roller.

If you are staying at the property then most likely what will happen:

First they will suggest that you just go and charge the buffet to your room. At the end of your trip you can come by the MLife booth and they will see about comping any of your room charges off.

They will say all that while they are punching up your data on their computer and by about now it will show up on their screen. They will give your account a quick review to see if you had an offer that included any buffet deal, any food/resort credit and to find your Express Comp balance.

If you were booked under an offer that had a free or 2-for-1 buffet, or any kind of food or resort credit, they will explain how that works and how you can use it... otherwise they will tell you your Express Comp balance and give you a quick run down on how it works and how to use it.

Do you have to go to the CET Booth..?

Fairly new to the whole comp thing. We have 2 short trips in to Vegas this year and have received some comp nights at CET properties. We will be using 3 nights in August. So if we gamble mostly at their properties during the 3 days, upon checkout do we go ask if we have can have anything taken off our bill? We would probably only have drinks/food from the pool charged to our room anyways. The question is, do you have to specifically ask someone to "take some off our bill" or when you check out do they see this on their screen and just take some off? I like the idea comps but I don't want to appear to be grovelling at the counter either.

Anyone know if CET (or mlife) includes odds in their craps calculations? I play $32/$34 inside and full odds on $5 tables (or double odds on a $10 table). Of course I press my bets and passline as the table warms up. Would this be considered closer to $40 or $60 a hand?
