Yesterday our days w/o snow streak ended at 288. We got a couple of inches. Tonight, depending on who you listen to, or believe. Oh crap, here's the quote from the NWS:
Confidence is high that there will be a paralyzing snow storm in portions of Wisconsin, with Blizzard or Near-blizzard Conditions likely.

Strong northwest winds gusting to 35 to 45 mph by Thursday afternoon could cause blizzard conditions with visibility of a quarter mile or less. The primary uncertainty with blizzard conditions Thursday afternoon and evening is the wet nature of the snow and the relatively warm. Near-freezing temperatures. A wet snow would reduce the threat for blizzard conditions, while a drier and fluffy snow would increase the threat for Whiteout Conditions.

    Why did I leave Vegas?

"Paralyzing"....not a word I want to see in my weather forecast since we have been there too many times. I think we will miss this one, but way too many people will be impacted by it.

Good wishes and good luck middle America

Love that. The forecasters get everyone all hyped up because it's going to be a "huge blizzard" and we get an inch or two. One of the radio guys up here calls the forecasters "weather terrorists" when they do that.

I worked in local TV for 35 years and management had the ratings stats that showed anytime they pushed a weather event, the ratings climbed. And believe me, management did push the weather people to hype it.

I'm up in the Dells, and am glad that I may get some skiing in on real snow! My wife will not ski on man made snow. Hope they have everything clear Saturday, when I drive home.

I've been getting weather alerts on my phone for 3 days:rolleyes2: I live in NC but used my phone to check weather when visiting my sister in Milwaukee, and I can't get my phone to stop alerting me about blizzards in WI. Oh well. Good luck over there:peace:

(and if you want to send any snow to the NC mountains next week, we want to go snowshoeing on Dec 29, so I'd be most grateful:thumbsup:)

While I do love to travel, I also work in global health and spend a lot of time finding airfares to various places and writing budget justifications for grants. Don't want to budget for an airport in New England when you intended to fly across the Pacific. And I spend a lot of time reading Flyertalk. Plus my dad, my husband, and my FIL are all private pilots, so some things sink in. Airport codes are one....:peace:

Strangest storm I've ever seen. It started last night and we got about 4" of snow. Somewhere overnight it changed to all rain and this morning I was out there with the snowblower trying to essentially blow slush while it was pouring. I've never been so wet!:nono: Damn wind blowing 30 mph with gusts to 50.

Now it just changed back to snow and they are still saying 7"+ yet to come.

It is really coming down right now! I hate winter days when you have to use the snowblower twice in the same day.:grrr:

And to top it off, we were driving home last night in the snow and it looks like my heater core in the car crapped out. Blowing nothing but cool air.:grrr:

As long as it doesn't happen on Monday, I'll be OK. It always worries me when they have to de-ice the wings

All in all, I'm happy we moved out of Vegas, but there are days...
