    Hi Everyone,

I read the welcome letter sent to me and sure enough, I found the introduction board.
    I'm Mrs. Mules.
I am in my 60s, married over 30 years.
My parents lived in Las Vegas for years so I have never had to stay in a hotel (except one time and it was disastrous) but now that parents are here living with me (Both elderly and in not very good health), I need a vacation!
I figured I better learn a little bit about Las Vegas Hotel/Casinos before I secure a room.
My husband really needs to get away too as he's taken on a lot by helping with the care of my parents.
I hope I can surprise him in the near future with room reservations ready when he gets home from work.
Nice to meet all of you!
    Mrs. Mules

What a nice way to get up in the morning. Thank you all for the warm welcome!

After reading some posts, I decided to get my feet wet and look around....maybe I'd run into a nice, inexpensive hotel online and
I could book it on the spot and really surprise hubby.

    Talk about sticker shock :eek2

What happened to the $49 rooms?
What's all this about Resort Fees?
Why am I not guaranteed a Smoking room?
Why must I have an extra $40 - $100 when I check in and have to pay it 'up front' ?

I don't need a 'Resort', so why the Resort Fees?
I have a pool at home. I don't need to use theirs.
    I have data on my phone, I don't need their in-room wi-fi.
    I don't 'do' spas.
When I have been able to get away, I don't watch TV nor do I read the newspaper, so their 'free' access to
    daily newspapers is mute.
And I am certainly not going to spend my first time away from my elderly parents in over a year,
    in an exercise room.
Yet, I have to pay for all that up front even though I am not going to be using those 'amenities' ?

We don't drink alcohol but we do enjoy sitting at the bar if it's close to the entertainment and playing the bar's video poker.
We enjoy eating and trying a different cafe/restaurant for each meal.
A nice bed with clean (hopefully bugless) linens and a sanitized bathroom with hot and cold running water.
We're simple. We don't ask for much.
We would rather not spend all our funds on fancy rooms; instead we love spending it gaming; trying all kinds of new slot machines and of course......
    Eating :licklips:

Going to my parents' retirement home in Las Vegas all those years: We arrived. Threw our baggage in 'our bedroom', freshened up and then the
four of us climbed in the truck and off we went to go casino hopping.
We visited my parents at a minimum of two times a month, sometimes a third and even a fourth visit was needed depending on my parents' 'needs'.

I guess it's time for me to get my big Bertha Butt into the twenty-first century AND into 2015 Las Vegas Hotel/Casino prices. :confused2:
Again, Thank you all for the nice Welcome!
I guess right now I'll spend a few hours on these boards, learning as much as I can before I venture out to travel sites online.

Hello and welcome to the board. I don't know which hotels you favor, but, keep looking for better pricing. Off Strip or downtown maybe.
    Good luck. :beer::beer:

Welcome - this the place for more info than one can digest - happy reading and good luck on your planning!

You may already know this with your Vegas experience, but Station casinos are very generous in comps and offers. We visited GVR last trip and played slots for 2-3 hours (both hubby and I used my players card to accumulate points). Within two weeks received compd night offers from GVR. Also if you favor one property or another, example CET or Mlife and focus your play at one for the trip, and both play on the same players card account (I always carry extra), you can earn points faster that might net you free offers on the strip for the following trip, plus some food comps. Look forward to hearing about your new experience staying at casino hotels!
