Ran into someone on other forum that suggested I check this forum . I see a lot of good info and good conversation . Runs just like the other forum so I find it easy to navigate .

Im looking to go to Vegas this coming weekend. but flights are quite high. Family occasion , so kind of last minute . Any good advice on when best times to lock in some good prices , would be greatly appreciated .

This little trip will help so I can plan for the real deal for my Bday in December.

    Thanks .

Glad you could join us and best of luck nabbing some last minute flights. It's always more difficult finding reasonably priced airfare so close to departure, but it's not impossible. I frequently book within three weeks of departure and sometimes half that. In those cases, however, I can usually take it or leave it; but surprisingly, good fares have almost always shown up and room offers are still available. Flight schedules and fares sometimes stay constant for weeks and sometimes change several times a day, so it's essential to check and check often. There are many sights to get a good overview; but again, the key is checking frequently. Hope you land something good.

Those spur of the moment trips tend to be a bit more costly than planning ahead.

Best advice is to simply plan ahead as much as possible.

Sometimes SW will e-mail so deals which is what we use to schedule our trips.

    Oh...welcome to the board.

    Welcome to the board.

I typically book my flights at least three months in advance on Southwest and if the fares go down, SW will credit me the difference for my next flight within a year.

Since we do Vegas three times a year, the credit is always used.

    Good luck!

Thank everyone . For a last minute deal I just bagged $300 roundtrip flights for 2 on priceline negotiator. I gotta say im feeling pretty happy with that. And its not on Spirit airlines its Delta .. Now to bag a good deal on hotel stay . Thing is i have family event that is 40 mins away from the strip , so i know im gonna be drunk all night and not even go to strip . its an un-needed expense if i pay for that day's room .

    any suggestions appreciated..

Welcome aboard neighbor. Central Illinois here.

I would suggest you find a hotel close to where you will be that night that way no driving and no expensive hotel. But then, you probably already thought of that.

Good luck and have a great trip.
