As an 11 year resident of Las Vegas (95-06) you would think I would know something about the Helldorado Days festival. Not being a rodeo or country/western fan, I suppose I was too busy earning a living to pay attention.

I have inadvertently booked a stay at the Golden Nugget during this year's Helldorado Days festival. I think it could be kind of fun to be amongst the revelers, and am generally looking forward to it. I remember that there is a parade, a rodeo, and a carnival. I have visited their web site and can find no additional information.

I was wondering what the overall effect on the atmosphere of the FSE area is during this time, if any. Specifically, will the FSE area seem busier than at other times? Are there more street vendors? Is there more live music? Are table minimums higher?

I would just like to have some idea of what to expect. Any observations from past guests of the Fremont Street area during this time would be appreciated.

I have stayed at the Gold Spike for the last 2 years during Helldorado days. I noticed nothing different from normal, unless I walked down to where the carnival and booths were. The parade is kind of fun, although definately not a big city type parade. If you stay at the Golden Nugget, and dont venture down toward El Cortez, I wouldnt think you would even know anything is going on.
