We'll be visiting Vegas soon and staying at the Wynn, which unfortunately makes a ton of rewards unavailable. I was considering redeeming a 12K/15K reward night at Excalibur or Circus Circus just for the eligibility for that day. Do these rooms with the rewards also have a resort fee involved (which would defeat the purpose of the whole thing)?

I've redeemed 3 night stays twice now at The Luxor and both times I was charged the RF though both times i was successful with the $20 trick for a room upgrade.

You are still charged the resort fee if you book a free or discounted room through MyVegas.

Yeah, we thought about this for bottle service at Gold lounge at Aria--even with resort fee it is still a great deal. We actually are going to use 2 nights at Luxor (a few more chips than Excal--but I have stayed at Excal so wanted to try Luxor--just so I can give my opinion when people ask). Luckily we see a room just to sleep & shower. Not crazy about the location but we weren't comped anywhere else (weekend nights are tough) so we took it.
A few years ago Mom & I were comped at PH & were going to fly Allegiant. Well it was only $25 to book CC with the flight--AND it came with Cirque tickets. Mom had been wanting to see LOVE so we grabbed it. Checked in at CC & never even went to the room (should have just to see it but the casino turned us off--hadn't been in years. Bellied up to a VP bar & it looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in years. Gross. We were done) No resort fees back then.
