Looks like I'm gonna be in Hbg. for a few days next month and I googled and there's the Hollywood Casino, which looks like a racino from the Google map.

Anyone have any experience with it? Is it worth the drive out there?

All advice for things like this from others on this board have been solid, so I thought I would ask here.

    TIA! :)

Was just there yesterday actually, first time in 2 years. It's an ok place, not the greatest and not the worst. Bigger place than average and slots are decent. I'd say it's worth it as something to do. Food is alright. I just don't go because it's 2 hours away and no connected hotel. But the casino itself is fine.

I live 14 miles from this casino. It is as described above. You generally do not find $5 table games. Offers are hard to come by. Decent machines with good staff. Self serve soft drink dispensers are available in two locations. It's a short easy drive from Harrisburg. It's worth the drive to check it out in person and to form your own opinion. Live music Friday & Saturday nights. Good luck. :D

If you have some time in the area, you might want to swing by the Troegs Brewery in Hershey.

I live about 10 miles away and go there about 2-3 times a year.
Go to Las Vegas 4-5 times a year.
It is a full casino with table games and slots.
Drinks are not free even if playing.
The Steakhouse is called the Final Cut and is pretty good although overpriced as you would expect.
SportsBar and restaurant on the second level that is near the track.
I don't play slots but the word is they are very tight.
PN has payed the fine imposed by the state for not meeting the minimum payback %.
BJ game is decent offering surrender and craps offers 3,4,5 times odds.

My mom lives close to Harrisburg, so we usually spend a day there when I visit her. It scratches an itch and we love to gamble together. Slots, yeah, pretty tight but we occasionally have a decent win with pretty small bets. Some VP with lousy pay tables, but hey, it's a casino and we have fun. I usually allocate about $100 and don't often leave with very much of that but it's clean, staff is nice, the "self serve" drink station is nice and I'm driving so no need for comp drinks. We usually pack a picnic and enjoy that rather than the food there. Nice way to spend a few hours.

    Enjoy your trip!

    Cheers,
    Kelly

    Thanks, all!

I was there last night. It was very OK but nothing to go out of the way for.

Planet Moolah and Orchid were most definitely tighter than Council Bluffs and Las Vegas but I did reasonably well on Jade Monkey and DaVinci Diamonds.

The band in the lounge was somewhat entertaining but again, nothing to go out of your way for.

Parking was great! Easy in and out and close to the casino.
