    My Trip Report

Just returned from Harrah's yesterday and I will give you a little INFO on our trip here...

Harrah's tried to get us to pay a early arrival fee of $28.00 plus tax to get into our room 1 hour before noon, the allowed check in time according to our desk agent.....we declined the offer and gave the bell hop a few green backs instead...went to brunch and returned for our key at the "Info Desk"

ALL Harrah's bars do NOT allow cigar smoking.....QUAD next door allowed me to enjoy a cigar at the bar or anywhere else in the casino....BTW you can still enjoy a cigar at Harrah's table games....just NOT at ANY of their bars...GO FIGURE

Our basic "Classic" comped room was VERY CLEAN and we were quite satisfied with it....GREAT view of a parking lot and the future wheel that is going up behind the hotel....maybe next year it will be a PREMIUM room...LOL

The trick to override the thermostat so the air conditioner stays on while no one is did NOT work....they changed the thermostat as it was not the same as someone here posted via a YouTube video....tried several other methods to get it to override and go to "Bypass" but there was no way it would do anything other then the set up the hotel has on it.........HOWEVER, it worked VERY WELL while we were in the room and even while we slept....the first night we almost froze to death as it was set for 65 degrees........LOL

The QUAD is a much better casino now then Harrah's...right now it's smaller in size but was told it will grow a LOT once they are done.....always a few $5 BJ tables and of course later into the evening all the Dealertainer tables were $5, except ONCE when we were winning too much the Pit Boss came over and raised it to $10 min.....we just changed tables.....and kept on WINNING....LOL

The Oyster Bar at Harrah's is no longer as good as it once was.....they didn't have two of the items on the menu we went there for.....and what we got was much less then the year prior......and to top it off after charging the bill to our room we had to ask THREE times and wait almost 10 minutes before someone finally gave us a receipt we requested.........

We went for the first time to Circus Circus to acquire a $5 chip and to cash in on our FREE buffet we earned via MyVegas......the place is overrun with kids....they were even playing soccer in the casino....NUTS in there.....will NEVER go back.

Red Rock was nice to visit......we rented a car for one day from Dollar Car Rental at TI...they do NOT have a Express Check In/Check Out counter....you wait like everyone else there.

No Longhauling by either of our cab drivers....so that's a huge PLUS for this trip....

Our Easter Brunch at Jasmine's was FANTASTIC....we took the option of all you can drink Champaign and got more then our monies worth....LOL

Brunch buffet at Mirage via MyVegas was worth it as we got one free so basically BOGO....if I had to pay for both meals....then probably a bit pricey for what they offer.

Lunch at Circus Circus buffet was OK because it was totally FREE......otherwise stay away.

Early arrival fee is crap! Glad you waited it out. Sounds like you had a good trip!

We ran into that when we double booked Harrah's and MSS. We declined the early check-in but they ran my CC & did all the paperwork. After hanging out in the casino for a while, we decided to go back downtown.

Now here is the funny part. This was a comped room, so when we back to the desk to cancel our reservation, they told us we had to pay an early departure fee on a room we couldn't check into!:poke:

It took a few minutes of arguing and then finally a manger taking it off my CC. The nerve of this company is amazing.

I was a dealer & PB in Vegas for seven years, I guarantee the minimum was not changed because some folks betting $5 per hand were winning :rolleyes2:

I think being grandfathered at a table where the mins are raised may be a thing of the past. The last three or four times that I was on a table that went up didn't allow under-minimums. As a matter of fact, the most recent time the PB announced very clearly "This is the last shoe at this minimum".

    Thanks for sharing your experiences.
I always like to start reading these trip reports a couple months prior to my trip.
Harrah's charges for early check-In? Good to know.

Yeah, the no-grandfathering thing is a relatively new move by CET to further crap on their customers. Moving the table limit from $5 to $10 likely has nothing to do with anyone winning though. The pitboss wanted more $10 tables later in the day, which makes complete sense.
