The wife and I are heading to Vegas in October for our anniversary.

We received an offer for 3 free nights at either Harrahs, Flamingo, Rio, or Imperial Palace. We tried to book online but for some reason it only shows comps for Rio or IP and if so we may be stuck with one of those. We are hoping they will honor what the email says for Harrahs or Flamingo. If they do, which do you recommend being that it will probably be the lowest option of room they comp. I plan on trying to offer $20-50 to the clerk for a "free" upgrade in either situation but figure if it doesn't work I don't want to be stuck in a total dump.

We plan on gambling mostly downtown. It would be nice if the place we stay has an indoor pool or maybe a nice night scene (clubs, bars, etc).

Oh and btw my dad and cousin are staying at El Cortez, which I booked since I have 3 nights comped there for them too. Has anyone seen their Suites in their Cabanas? I saw their smallest room there but I also saw a video of their Junior Suites and they seem amazing. If the deal falls through at the strip hotels I may just try to upgrade that one but I definitely prefer to stay on the strip.

I like both hotels but if I remember correctly Flamingo has the deuce stop in front. If you are spending a lot of time downtown this may be your best choice. Location of Flamingo can't be beat. Try to upgrade to a GO room, your comped room is most likely at FAB.

The Deuce doesn't stop in front of the Flamingo anymore. A recent change.

i'm interested in this question too. i just booked my christmas trip and booked both harrah's and flamingo because i couldn't decide. there is about a $20 difference for the total price, with flamingo being more expensive. i'm personally leaning towards flamingo.

We have rented a convertible for the stay so we won't be using public transportation much. Only going to pay $169 with taxes and figured it probably costs more with rent\gas\valet tips but the ability of just getting up and going everywhere was worth it in our opinion, not to mention the wife wanted to drive a convertible so bad lol. Thanks for the great help so far everyone i'm calling TW today to see what offers I actually have.

Have not stayed at Flamingo yet (will be there in January). Stayed at Harrah' many times, and it has always been more than adequate. Very clean, good service, great location, nice casino, etc.

While I am not fussy about either of the properties standard rooms I think you will have way more success with an upgrade at Flamingo. Rooms at Harrah's suck. And not sure if it will still be pool weather but that Harrah's pool is a joke.

Where did Deuce stop move to? Assume this is because of the construction.

jgates not 100% sure but I think it moved to Harrah's. After the many many times I have stayed at Harrah's and had to walk so far to catch the bus, we are now staying at Flamingo and it is no longer there:grrr:

I like them both and have had plenty of Nice rooms at Flamingo and Harrahs
Pool Wise...Flamingo hands downs. Age Wise...Harrahs for the younger crowd with Carnival Court , Toby Keiths, and the Piano Bar. Flamingo has probably a little older clientele though they do have Margaritaville and Carlos and Charlies(haven't been there since this opened)
Probably not much help here but I enjoy both hotels and you can't really go wrong. :peace:

I'd choose Flamingo for Pool, Location(I hate having to walk through Carnival court), and the rooms at Flamingo are better. The only way I'd choose Harrah's is if I was going to spend most of my Vegas time in the casino(Harrah's is better IMO) or at Carnival Court.

I did notice on the linx webcam that there is concrete barricades now in front of the flamingo on the strip, where is the closest stop?

Disagree, I would say Flamingo has a younger more mixed clientele, the pool probably has something to do with that. I really enjoy Flamingo in the summer, and would probably prefer Harrah's when the pool is not a factor. They are pretty equal with Harrah's having more to do at night, but Flamingo having a slight edge in location as you dont have to traverse the IP mess to get to the Bally's side of the street.
