Hi, I am new to these forums and will likely use this to plan in more detail my second trip to Las Vegas.

I am visiting Vegas with my wife for a belated honeymoon in September and have heard stories of people getting complimentary upgrades to a better room.

Has anyone ever had this in Harrahs and if so what is the best way to go about it?

Also, does anybody know if it is worth requesting a strip view?

Thanks for any help anybody can give.

Andy - it is always worth a try. Some can just by asking nicely and others use the $20 trick with the check in clerk. I've never stayed at Harrah's so someone else can probably answer that one. We've had luck using the $20 trick at Bally's - Paris - LV Hilton. Congrats on the wedding - hope you have a great time!

    Everybody wants an upgrade.

Reality is they have only so many rooms with a strip view, or suites, etc.

You can always ask. You can try the $20 trick. Personally, if you want a good view, I would book it in the first place.

I've stayed at Harrah's several times, and out of all the Hotels I have used, I have had the worse results with them. Usually I was lucky just to get a view. But as said above, it doesn't hurt to ask, you never know.

I'd wager that telling the check-in clerk that it is your honeymoon would increase the odds of receiving an upgrade.

When you check in at Harrah's they have a price sheet for upgrades that they will read to you. Its something like $10 for a basic room upgrade, $15-20 for a mini suite, $20-25 for a bigger suite, $30 for an even bigger suite (prices are nightly)

Whats available and the pricing depends on how busy they are, but they should always have something available.

You can ask for a complimentary upgrade because its a honeymoon, but its likely to just be the most basic upgrade whereas for an extra $20-25 a night to get upgraded to a suite is a pretty good deal and compared to their standard rooms they are pretty nice.

Harrahs strip view in my opinion stinks. All the buildings around it are bigger than it is and so a strip view pretty much means seeing a few signs and possibly a glimpse of the street. My favorite view at Harrahs is a a high floor Carnival Tower even numbered room. While it is not the strip there are plenty of pretty city lights at night and mountains during the day. I have a recent photo of my view I will try to find it and post it.

Executive suite upgrade last time I paid was $55 night. I suppose you could get lucky and find a desk clerk who charged you less. Petite suites face the strip, not sure of the upcharge on that.
