I recently enjoyed a two night stay at Harrah's AC but was disappointed to find that my favorite bar top VP machines require a 50-cent minimum bet with the max bet skipping the 4000 threshold and jumping to 8000. Very annoying as those machines are tight to begin with -- don't think I've hit anything better than three of a kind on them. Worse still was the $5 per bet machine at the end of the bar that took $300 of mine in less than 30 minutes.

Further, I felt like the VP machines at Harrah's were tight as hell. I managed an impressive 9 4OAKS during my stay but I couldn't hit a Royal for the life of me. Anyone else having similar experiences? I wonder if CET is trying too hard to milk the cow and it's now affecting how people play. In fact, the only excitement I saw came from people at the tables.

All-in-all, I netted negative 2200, but the trip was worth it. I hit my goal of one thousand tier credits per day and met great people. First solo "vacation" in AC and I gotta say I don't know why people give AC such a hard time. It was lively and energetic and the food was great. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

It's easy to feel that the machines are tight when you lose,I do too Some people say it's crazy to play bartops in the first place.,that the% of return is lousy.

Sorry to hear that Harrah's-AC has raised the minimum bet for their bar-top video poker machines; Harrah's-AC is my home casino. Your analysis of the video poker machines being "tight" is inaccurate. A video poker machine's return is determined by the pay table (which is right on the screen); the cards dealt to you are from a random deck. Your losses are well within the expected loss of a short sample though nobody likes to live through them. The term of a "tight machine" is used with machines like slot machines where the casino sets the payback percentage (generally about 90-91%) and you have no way of knowing if the machine you're playing pays back 88% or 93%. If you want a good vp machine at Harrah's-AC, try the 9/6 JoB machines near the Brigantine Entrance that return 99.54% (but give out points at the ratio of 50:1) or the 9/6 DDB machines near the Total Rewards Desk that return 98.98% (and give points at the ratio of 10:1).

I know exactly what bar you are talking about spdan..My last trip in April was zip 4 of a kinds there..Sunday afternoon bar was semi-full with the Masters final round going on and I tried the short machine on the left side and bounced around the machines behind it..Blew like $180 right off the bat $20 a clip. Some of those are normal .25 5 unit max..Just lost so fast at every machine it was strange,no hands at all.

Now back in December, same bar and I am just to left of the two $1 machines on right.3rd machine from the wall...Girl on the right of me gets a 4aces handpay and the guy on my left gets a quality hand also within like 20 minutes of each other or so?..We are all watching football and I'm trying to slow play waiting on my buddy to get there and a text that the room is ready...
I make a joke that I'm due to hit something since you guys are so hot and sure enough...

But me being budget wary that that 10 unit max bet was just too much on my first hour in AC after the plane and cab...$375 instead of $2000..Kissing your sister..
I have had some good hands at the bar and I swear they flip a switch as it always seems people are hitting or no one is..
My buddy is a frequent player there and at the Borgata and Golden Nugget and swears they lower the machines payouts somehow in summer(When also raking in cash off tourists elsewhere, notably thePOOL) and get them back to regulation or whatever in the winter..Just my opinion..
P.S when they first opened that Poker Bar area all the machines at the bar were $1 and the machine behind (Where the TV's used to all work) were .25's and all 5 unit max bet..That lasted as long as Flair bartending at the Eden lounge and before that the ice bars..Funny watching the developments over the years and nothing at all to say a positive about except more rooms so always comped?
    Better luck next trip !!

Thanks for keeping me accurate -- and yea, I saw some 9/6 machines on the floor. Very cool to see that nobody was playing them...I guess people really do play for comps. What I thought was even more interesting were the 8/5 machines that played perfect strategy for you. I felt weird playing them because the game lost all its fun

I think we as humans naturally try to look for patterns but I swear you're right. When I gamble from 1pm-8pm, the machines don't feel like they payout. I swear from 12AM - 4AM, I hit 6 four of a kinds. I literally had a snapchat log of all of them hitting within thirty minute blocks of each other. Conspiracy at this point, but funny that I am not the only one that's a bit leery

The paytable was the same at the Tropicana 10 North bar as well.

The bar tops at Harrah's have been 25cent/10units for the RF or basically a 50 cent machine for years. My wife hit her first non-penny RF at that Poker Bar.

There is/was a way to play 25 cent/4000 unit RF at the Trop. Something like single on the STP machine.
