You know - that 'just awesome' moment ?

For us it was on our last trip - we stayed two nights at the Golden Nugget before moving south to the MGM for the rest of the time.

We'd just got off a ten hour flight, which had been delayed. Add to that an hour shuffling through immigration, picking up the rental car, navigating through half-remembered streets to the GN - so we were fairly tired!

When we got to the check-in, the clerk mentioned something about them being out of the rooms we'd booked so we had an upgrade. I was so tired I wasn't really paying that much attention, I said thanks and we headed to the room.

We opened the door and and :faint: The room was amazing! Kind of hard to put it into words, but there was loads of space, the bathroom was immense with two tubs and a huge shower, plus another room off of that. We were stunned. So this is what Vegas is really like!

When we went back down for dinner, I went past the check-in desk and said thank-you again to the guy and tipped him $20.

    Anyone else?

    Cheers,

    Justin

Similar thing happened on my last trip last August at The Mirage. I was having a really hard time with my room key. Six times I had to either go back to the desk or call Security. I was livid the last time. The Night Manager said there was clearly a problem and asked if I would mind being moved to a suite for my last night. Of course, I accepted.

I opened the door and "Wow". This room had more square footage than my town house. Incredible.

And the south facing view was nothing short of spectacular!

The next morning, they wasted no time kicking me out, but that one night was a taste of paradise.

Mine was my first time in a Palazzo room. Beautiful, big, the sunken living room was incredibly unexpected.

Also seeing how many girls were walking around in Crazy Horse 2. Double wow, if you know what I mean. Ba-dum-bah!

Before all the water was taken out of the moat at Excalibur and also drained from around the statue of liberty replica at NYNY...before they started doing construction of the NYNY and Monte Carlo facade...before they changed the background of the lion out front of MGM Grand to a symbol of hakassan....

Walking out at night on the south strip at the Four Corners was absolutely a sight to see.

I loved that visual more than even the Bellagio fountains...more than Times Square in NYC. It really energizes me and makes me smile/sigh.

In 2012 one of my friends flew in to meet me in Vegas, she had never been before, we were staying at the Trump because I had screwed up royally on Priceline (a super pricey, sold out weekend). It wasn't a big deal, but I was a little bummed. We got to chatting with the agent and the upgraded us to the big one bedroom corner suite! We were so excited about it!! To top it all off I had won tickets to the Billboard Music Awards, and that was really fun! It turned out to be an awesome trip. Best intro to Vegas I could give somebody!

Also when Cosmo opened, the first time you see that Chandalier, wow!! Took like a thousand pictures of it haha.

The first time I went to Red Rock was great too, I had no idea there was something that beautiful in Vegas!

My most recent wow moment was eating at Gordon Ramsay Steak, that was a great place! Really surprised me and my family.

First time I walked into a room at M Resort. Awesome room for the price, and we usually get a couple nights free.

    Wow Moment

I'm at the Paris Casino a few years back, playing at a bank of four machines . All of a sudden , I hear that major Jackpot music coming from the other side . I peek around to see what it was , My wife had just hit a Wild Huskies machine for $1,200.00 ! I didn't know she was there. It was even sweeter when the guy next to her said , wow, those machines never hit like that ! Bob

I remember gambling the last night of my first trip and forgetting my wallet next to a slot machine. After realizing it was gone about 20 minutes later, I went to the security booth and thankfully someone had turned it in. I think my wow moment was "Wow, you were pretty dumb Amy".

^^ that would be the scariest thing ever, Amy. Glad that someone was good enough to turn it in. My "wow" moment was the first trip about 5 miles outside of Vegas on the plane. It was a " holy s@&$ this is going to be awesome" moment!

My first trip was with my girlfriend. We stayed at The Mirage and as soon as we stepped out onto the strip I was in awe.

Another time at The Mirage I went down early on a Sunday to lock in my baseball bets...and there was this dude SHOVELING bricks of 100s into grocery store bags. I have no clue what he hit on at the book but that was my "holy shit this is VEGAS!" moment.

In 2002 we went to Vegas the first time and Delta Airlines screwed us every which way but to loose.....a 5 hour trip ended up taking 14.5 hours.....so we finally check in around 11pm using MGM's airport site and slipped the nice lady a $20 and she gave us the 28th floor overlooking NYNY.....when we opened up the drapes the whole strip was there lit up and the next morning we enjoyed the snow covered mountain tops....since then the $20 'trick' has been useless for us and I no longer even try.

I have to echo some of the other posters about an unexpected room upgrade being a WOW moment. It's happened to me several times, but the best was probably when I arrived late at Harrah's one night. After being greeting with that dreaded deer in the headlights look, I ended up with a suite. Jacuzzi, separate shower, five, yes 5 TV's, bar and kitchen, separate bedroom, great view, blah, blah, blah. And it was a solo trip – what a waste!

I second this, except I do like the Fountains a bit better. One of the great things about the pedestrian bridges is the view you get at night at different spots.
