looking for a greek place that has gyros close to strip or downtown.
Not Greek but a Halal place downtown right across the Fremont Street canopy called Kabob Korner. Ate there once during the day when we were in the downtown area for the outlet mall. Good gyros and kabobs, hole in the wall type place. Pretty sure there is nothing on the strip.
In the Fashion Show Mall there's a place called Great Wraps. I eat lunch there sometimes. They have Gyros and they're actually pretty good. There used to be a Greek Cafe at the Mall, but for some reason it closed.
I love Gyros and the best place in Vegas, IMO, is across from UNLV on Maryland Pkwy called Stephano's.
But if you want to stay on the Strip, try Great Wraps for a quick bite to eat.
American Coney Island has them. Inside The D and under the external escalator.
A bit out of the way but Stephanos by UNLV is fantastic.
My wife and I both had the gyro plate and it was excellent.
Looks good! That picture is making me hungry.
The Fat Greek at Flamingo/Decatur is my first choice. Stephanos has the next best gyro.
There was a place in the strip mall south of Riviera. Good but not great.
Its not on the strip but go to OPA's. They even have a live band playing with the dancing.
If you want a great gyro, its in nyc to dc area or chicago/midwest.
The rest is either pre-sliced or off the cone from kronos (company is in chicago) but you can find true greek places. Its better to have the real thing.
If you do lamb shoulder with tzatziki sauce and greek pita, its the same thing but MUCH tastier and original.
And if you are in nyc, try the cart on avenue of america where the hilton is. This guy has it right (for a hotdog cart) and his line wraps around the block!
