Great LVR Journal article on Downtown

    I have not read it all (there are 10 "chapters"), but if you are interested in the history of downtown LV and the renewal efforts, I think you will enjoy reading the article and viewing the videos and interactive photos (e.g. you can switch photo from old downtown view to an overlay view of new downtown).

    Thanks for posting, I read all 10 chapters. To the LVJ I'd like to say that was surprisingly great reporting on the virtues and downfalls of profit based corporate investment vs. social responsibilty. I'm securely in the capitalist/libertarian camp and think what Zappo's is attempting to do downtown is a great thing. It may fail miserably but I applaud the effort of a private enterprise investing a great deal of their own money to try and revitalize an entire area while hoping to profit from their work. Capitalism at its best!

    I enjoyed it, and i also enjoyed the opposite side of the coin.. the 'casualties' of revitalization. I'd hate to see that barber shop and other staples that roughed it during the "bad" years of downtown be kicked out.
