    My Trip Report

A little about me, recently graduated, studying for the CPA and working part time. I saved up some money, sold a few things, and was given a bit of cash for this trip. I'll post pictures later. I went with my girlfriend for this trip.

Arrived around one, we quickly checked in the Cromwell and were downstairs on the strip in minutes. We were heading towards Bouchon for our reservation at 5:30. Stopped by Flamingo's, saw Margaritaville (just walked by), checked out Harrah's, and just kept walking. Girlfriend bought us cocktails at some place called squeeze, they were pretty damn good.

I had to try White Castle and it didn't dissapoint, so much better than Frozen ones. We walked through the Grand Canal shops, I don't care about shopping much and my girlfriend didn't want to spend any money in these shops. I did pay for a Gondola ride, it was alright pretty nice.

From there we went and kept walking towards the Wynn, I had signed us up for a bunch of players cards before we left so we picked up the card and I started gambling at the slots a bit. gambling for a little bit and I won 100 dollars pretty quick, Cocktail Waitress comes I tip her 3 bucks and grab a gin and tonic but never see her again. We decide to head to dinner after I figure she's not coming by again.

Bouchon was probably the biggest dissapointment for me of the trip. The bread was great, escargot was awesome, but I was not impressed by the white sausage at all. I'm used to eating locally made delicious sausages from a number of different butchers and they all make better. My girlfriend got some scallop dish and I wasn't very impressed at all. Ended the meal with a shot of espresso each and we were on our way.

We walked around more, gambled a bit. Headed back to the Cromwell because my girlfriend claimed she was going to take a long time to get ready before we head to Drais. I gamble...get carded 4 times in 10 minutes. Then another time a little while after, the cocktail waitress checks my ID then says "awwwww". I look very young. I try some video poker at the bartop and suck, damn I need to practice next time before I come. I play slots for a while, I like quarter blazing 7's with 75 cent max bet as well as Wheel of Fortune. Many many gin and tonics later the girlfriend comes down, we gamble for a little bit and pregame I guess. Head to the bartop to see if they have any cocktails? Bartender says no so I just grab another gin and tonic while the girlfriend is getting shots of Vodka. I didn't order any nice drinks or cocktails while gambling, I don't know why. I really wanted a lemond drop martini, cosmopolitan, ehh anything nice and different but for some reason I never ordered one.

I fell in love with Video blackjack, does it not get love here because of rules? I assume with a dealer its a lower house edge thats why I never see it on trip reports here? I decided next time I come I'm going to learn blackjack too, as this was my first time gambling this trip. I had a lot of fun played for a while then we got in line for Drais. J cole was playing, I don't know any songs by him but I did have to pay $60 even though I was a hotel guest and on the guestlist. Girlfriend got in for free! Drais was great though and we had a great time I soon forgot about paying that much. We left Drais, played more Wheel Of fortune...I got carded a few more times. It was around 1 or 2 and I had 10 dollars left in the machine I said we'd play till its gone then bedtime. 2 hours later and I finally have to wave off the Cocktail waitress for drinks. I'm smoking a couple cigarettes too having a good time. Some cops actually saw me and walked over to me and were just looking at me in the corner I was playing in. I was blowing smoke in their direction (only because my girlfriend was to my right and she doesn't like smoke) and they just left I think they wanted to ID me though. I have to say also Cocktail Waitresses at the Cromwell are the best. With such a small hotel service was the best I had at any place this whole trip, it was easy to see they staffed the floor well. We finally leave and from my 10 dollars 2 hours later I have 80 bucks. Force my girlfriend to drink some pedialyte before bed.

Here's a picture of us at Drais. I really really liked having this in our hotel http://imgur.com/LsvANSX

Sounds like you had a great time. Now get back to studying for that life suck of an exam. Vegas is even better when you're there to celebrate never having to take that damn thing again!

I'll have my BBA in Accounting on May 16th...May 17th Vegas! As soon as I get back I'll start studying for the CPA. I work full time for a CPA firm right now, so with school and tax season I'm ready to blow my brains out. May 17th can't come fast enough!!!!

Good report! Good luck with the exams!

CET properties lately have been tough on ID. I'm turning 35 in a week and I got carded at least 5 times last month at the casino bars. Twice for asking for non-alcoholic drinks. On my 2011 trips, I don't think I ever got carded.

I also heard a CET property (harrahs maybe?) got slapped with a $75k fine earlier this year for having someone under 21 just loitering around a gaming table. He did NOT play.

As for video blackjack at the bar, ya rules are poor (over 4% for CET bars since blackjack is even money and you can't double down or split). You can find live blackjack games with house edges of less than 1% if you find a game that pays 3 to 2 on blackjack and allow you to double down and split. But if you are just playing video BJ slowly for cheap so you can get your drinks for "free", then it's okay for that. But if you want to bet $10+ per hand, find a live 3 to 2 table.

This was only a half day, I brought about 2200 to spend, but actually didn't get to gamble much. I got intimidated by the crowded craps tables and I wanted to play so bad. I told my girlfriend once I pass these tests I want to go back to Vegas with more money! I'll definitely play a lot more video poker/blackjack and I am definitely going to try craps sometime.

For drinking video blackjack was definitely fun. Saturday Sunday and Monday will be posted soon. I'm volunteering now as I type this with the IRS filing taxes for low income taxpayers, something for the Resume and I'm enjoying my time here.

Edit here's a photo from Drais: http://imgur.com/LsvANSX Girlfriend looked good in that black dress and heels! Me not so much while I'm asian glowin.

Good TR so far, I sadly admit that I also love playing video blackjack on the bartops. Its a great game to sit for hours and drink for free, I can usually manage to break even and doesn't involve any strategy like VP. Post above is correct, that the rules are awful to play for any significant amount of money, its akin to playing 6/5 DDB in VP.

Thanks for the TR and details! Looking forward to the rest when you get a chance to breath. It all makes it worth it down the line, the study, testing, volunteering, to some day move up that ladder. Just so we can have more $ for Vegas Baby :)

Thanks again for taking the time to share!

No. I am. You are absolutely right. I misunderstood your post because I am drunk, watching a horrible Amazing Race episode with the wife and not paying attention..
