    My Trip Report

I flew Delta out of my Home town through Atlanta and everything went like clock work, we actually arrived early. I sat beside a couple guys that were heading to Vegas to celebrate one of em's 21st birthday, they worked for Delta and had a pile of drink coupons, I got pretty drunk on the plane (4 hour flight).Caught the grey line to the Rio. Check in was a breeze and I was in my room by 05:30.

They put me up in the Masquerade tower on the 9th floor, room was nice enough but if I ever take the Girlfriend I'll get a room in the Ipanima tower. The room had a nice safe, hair drier, and Iron and ironing board. No coffee maker which was a bummer for me.

    First night,
I really wanted to hang around the Rio because I had a meeting downtown on Saturday and I really didn’t want to run the strip. Man am I glad I did. I took a quick shower; I went down to the American Grill and got a great Hamburger that hit the spot. I walked the Casino floor, took in the float show and had a couple of $2 Daiquiris at Rubs. I had $200 in my budget for the night. The Black jack games are crap there, everything was 6:5 hit s17 double on 8, 9, 10, and 11 only, and I don't really know about splitting, I just kept walking.

I found a $10 crap table with 3x, 4x, and 5 x odds so I jumped in. I ground out a few numbers on Pass line and come line bets with full odds and then things went Ice cold for me, my first roll was total shit, after 2 crap outs I set a point and 7nd out, holy crap. I was down to $20 so I just started buying 6&8, I made a little off of that and got back in decent shape. The guy next to me was getting killed and the table was dead. I got the dice again and this time Rolled for 45 minutes, I ended up hitting a 4way fire bet for $1 and things took off, the table got red hot, we had 2 more shooters roll for 30 minutes and 2 more rolled for 20 minutes, what a thing of beauty seeing those numbers hit. That was one fun time and when the dust finally settled at 2:30am I had a nice $1800 bank roll and a hard time walking stright. What a night!!!!!!!

    Day 2
I only got about 4 hours of sleep, I had to meet with some guys for breakfast at Main Street station at 9:00am.The breakfast was OK, I was so damn hung-over I could hardly eat. I drank a load of coffee and started feeling human again. The meeting went well (everyone else was hung-over to) and after some haggling we decided to move forward with our plans.

Everyone wanted to play some Blackjack so we walked to the 4 Queens and found a 6 deck $3 table. I ground out a $25 profit after about 2 hours. One of the guys in our group hit the sucker bet for Two Queen of hearts for $250,We had a good time and the beer started flowing again. We walked Fremont Street and hit a few more tables but I just ground away and never really had a good run.

At about 3:00pm I caught the duce back to the strip and checked Casino Royal. The crap table was packed so I decided to go back to the room for a nap.

I headed back to the same table that I played on Friday and it was still smoken !!!! A group of guys from Chicago were there and we had a blast, nobody had any monster rolls but we were hitting some points and had several nice 15 minute runs. I walked at 5am with $1200, sweet !!!!, my days were going great.

I saw the craziest shit I have ever seen on a Crap Table that night. A drunk guy walked up to the table and put a stack of greens about 12” high on the pass line (we just looked at each other in disbelief), he was rolling and he rolled an 11, the table went wild and started chanting “let it ride” I was blown away when he did, to our amazement he threw a 7 for another win. Common since finally took over and he took it down. With some help from some guys around him he started playing small pass bets with full odds. He colored up after his roll and had $2800. He came over to our end and told us he had never played craps before and just thought he would take a chance (not a bad roll either, he rolled for about 15 minutes), he was sloppy drunk and staggered off towards the elevators. Wow I’m still amazed at that one.

    Day 3
I finally drug out of bed at noon and caught the shuttle to the strip. Casino Royal was packed again so I just walked around looking at things. I finally settled on a table at the Flamingo. The table was Ice cold and I dropped $200 there and walked.

I did a little shopping and sightseeing and went back to the Rio at 5:00. As soon as I walked through the door I meet a couple of girls that were playing at the crap table Friday night and they asked me if I wanted to hit Rubs for some food and some $2 Daiquiris (Hell yea!!!). I went up took a quick shower and hit the bar in front of Rubs to wait on them. We had an excellent dinner at Rubs, the St Louis Ribs were awesome (But expensive). We had a few more drinks and decided to hit the tables again. It was up and down and nothing ever got hot. We were all wore out and one of them was bummed out cause she had gotten killed at the tables earlier. They had an early flight and decided to get some sleep at about 12:00. We exchanged #s and promised to keep in touch. I dropped another $200 real quick and went back to the room for a nap.

    Day 4
I couldn’t sleep so I got up and packed and went back to the tables at about 5:00. There were some Collage Boys playing that didn’t have a clue what they were doing and I sat there and coached them for a while. The table was Luke warm at best and a Finally walked after dropping $100.I went and got some breakfast and just sat around playing VP, checked out at 9:00 and hit Airport for the flight home. Flight home was great.

All in all a great weekend. I really liked it at the Rio everyone was really very friendly and I will be back, it’s an amazing place. If they would get some better Blackjack Tables I would make this place Home Base. I’ll take the girlfriend back but if I go solo again I’ll be Downtown.

Great report and sounds like you had a blast at the craps tables! I do miss the days when I'd play BJ for hours on end at The Rio before they adopted the crappy rules. We still enjoy The Rio (we have a room there for our entire trip May 2-7 and another room, what the hell may as well take advantage of a comp, at The Venetian).....we always head next door to The Gold Coast to play BJ; when we were last in Vegas in October, they still had a decent 3:2 BJ game there and you could double down on any two cards. I can't recall for certain, but I think the house was hitting soft 17 last trip though. Hurry up May 2!!! Your report has me anxious to get back!

Nice report. I'm glad to hear the positive response about the Rio as I'll be there May 3rd (first time there). Thanks for the heads up with the $2.00 drinks at the bar in front of Rub - we'll check that out for sure.

Very nice run on the craps table; it's always nice to hear about someone winning.

Thanks guys for the replies, I love trip reports they really helped me see some new and different things and made my trip that much better.

You'll have a blast there, it really is a great place. The restaurants and drink services are great, I never had a bad meal there. The $2 drinks are there 24 hours and you can walk over to the rail for the float show, I even caught some beads !!!!

The crap dealers are the best !!!!!! They were very willing to explain things when they weren’t busy to the newbie’s and even us old guys when we got confused. I just can't say enough about these guys they were absolutely great.

I forgot to mention the pools but you won't go wrong they are super nice. I never made it to the topless pool so I can't comment on that one. Plenty of eye candy all around. The waitresses actually get up dance and sing on stages set up in and around the casino and they are great.

If you’re into poker go check out the poker room it's really nice and the offer free lessons to for those of you who are new to live play. Lots of fun there.

You will have a great time, I just hope you can hit a hot table while your there !!!
