Got into LAS early yesterday 10:30,no line for cabs..Was kinda hoping to take the freeway to get to the Gold Coast fast.Driver asked if I'm in a slot tourney,I say no...He heads for the tunnel and I say Tunnel huh? Thought you were not supposed to do that.
Driver says nothing and I take a pix of taxi info screen in cab (Lucky cab? with taxi authority tel #)
Guy noticed me doing that and as we pull into GC he says just give him $18,said he took tunnel to avoid traffic.Meter was at $24 and change..Got my bag and gave him $20.that's cheaper than I usually pay going the correct way.

Good to hear it didn't take much for him to wake up.
    Why no Uber for you?

Isn't the tunnel the correct way to get to the off strip places like Rio or Gold Coast?

Personally, I prefer going that way to avoid all the stoplights.

(PS - this probably should be in "Getting There and Getting Around"

I find it quicker to take Swenson to Tropicana to I-15 and get off at Flamingo in the morning, rather than getting long hauled.

Yea i mean if you dont specify and you're headed to the GC, I (as a driver) would head for the tunnel. Its sort of a long haul but might of gotten you there quickly if traffic was bad that evening. Its hard to tell. As all will say, always get in the car and say "no tunnel" first off. Or UBER which is what I do now.

No, the tunnel is only correct for hotels actually south of the airport. The tunnel to Rio or Gold Coast adds $5 to potentially save about a minute assuming no traffic. It's not faster and taking Trop to I-15 isn't bad on stop lights.
