    Hi All,

Piggybacking off jerseryguy's "Dumb Xmas Gifts" thread, thought I'd start the opposite!

What did you get that was either

    "just what I wanted!"
"oh, wow thanks, this is a surprise!"
    "jackpot!"

Oops! Didn't answer my own question!

My son and his girlfriend got me a Kindle Fire HD 8.9. I was in tears!! I had been eyeballing it for a couple months, but had to put it off. Just bought a condo and renovations completely wiped out my finances. The condo was my gift to myself.

Also, my boss and his team got my usual Macy's card, but this time I had to burn through $500. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful as heck, I just don't shop at Macy's. Anyway, from that giftcard, I ordered the following online:

    1. A beautiful winter coat
    2. A black leather handbag
    3. A 24" spinner
    4. Matching roller-optional tote bag
    5. Keurig Elite (my original Keurig is dying a slow death, so I am replacing)

Not bad for $500 at Macy's!

Had a friend hand me my present and say if you can guess what it is I will give you $100. I take it and it is quite heavy for the small size. I guess several things. Turns out to be a 5 lb gummy bear. I read the side panel and if I eat it all will be over 6000 calories. Needless to say I didn't get the $100.

We did get some nice things besides the salad spinner.

Some jewelry, nice clothes and as usual Glenlivit. We still are waiting for the Lexus with the big bow on top.We really have no reason to complain, especially when we see how many people around here were hurt during Sandy.
I just brought up the salad spinner thing for laughs

My favorite gift this year is a small painting from my husband. It looks just like my dog, Ruby. The new camera we got each other is pretty nice too (Nikon D5100), but that painting is my favorite.

One of the coolest things this year was going to Tumacacori on Christmas Eve, with the mission and grounds illuminated with luminarias.

Terri had the work watch on the 26th so we had to drive home on Christmas. We were treated to the most impressive sunset I can recall heading w/b on the 10 before dropping down the grade to Indio. I have a doesn't-do-it-justice pic on m iPhone I'll retrieve and post. Best Christmas lights we've ever seen!

Like usual, Terri knocked it out of the park. We've really been getting into Rhone wines and Rhone varietals produced around here. She made some calls, did some research, and set me up with an array of wines from the Gigondas AOC. Think Chateauneuf-du-Pape w/o the often nutty prices. Way bueno.
