I know there a fair number of golfers on this board.

I am thinking about buying Callaway stock. The stock is down right now but they have a new CEO and it might be a good time to buy.

What is the general opinion from golfers of Callaway clubs, shoes, and apparel?

An article I read said they have some of the best drivers which is supposed to be a large portion of company profits.

There has been rumors of a buyout for years which would make sense right now.

I was given a sleeve of HX Tour balls a few years ago at a scramble and I thought they were OK, but other than that I've never used/purchased anything Callaway. I currently have five different brands in my bag right now so I'm definitely open to whatever feels good but I've never tried a Callaway club that I thought was worth purchasing.

    Stock advice?

Mr. McGuire: I just want to say one word to you. Just one word.

    Benjamin: Yes, sir.

    Mr. McGuire: Are you listening?

    Benjamin: Yes, I am.

    Mr. McGuire: Plastics.

Callaway makes good gear. Most everyone does these days. Where they fall behind is in marketing effectiveness and product definition, and a seesaw for many years of leaders and philosophies. So much of golf is all about image. How does a shoe company have so much success moving into equipment? "Everyone" plays Titleist balls because of branding and placement. Look at the juggernaut that TaylorMade and adidas together has become.
