    Paging Ken...

I would call Rhodes Ranch. Give us some more info, where staying, how far you will drive to play, time table, etc.

Look at Boulder Creek golf course. Little bit of a drive (Boulder City) but very nice and not overly punitive.

Staying at MGM. About 30-45 minutes away would be the most they are willing to travel. We would be wanting to scramble as we have all levels of talent.

I'd consider Primm Lakes. The Boulder Creek rec is a good one, as well.

You might consider Aliante. I played there on my last Vegas trip. It's nothing spectacular but it's rather affordable. Most holes are lined by homes and OB, but I wouldn't call it a "tight" course. It was about a 20-25 minute drive from our hotel.

Duh, Ken … Angel Park. Views and some good holes keep interest up, hacks can knock it most of the way around without fear of forced carries. Play Mountain. Then have some booze and an all-hands grudge match on the putting course or the short course. Have more booze. Perfect.

    angel park

We played each 18 on Thursday and Friday. Had great time withe perfect weather. Friday it took over 5 plus hours on the palm course so be prepared to wait. The Angel Park van picked us up at the "D" Friday and took us back free of charge since we had 6 players on Friday. Might be worth to call the course and see if they will provide transportation for your group.

Anything close to the strip? Say 10-20 minutes from south strip?

How much do courses charge for club rentals in Vegas?

Wynn Golf Club at Wynn. Hugely expensive.
Bali Hai below Mandalay Bay. Grossly overpriced even with current reductions.
Callaway Golf Center. Pitch and putt.
LVCC. Private, sometimes takes outside play.
Las Vegas National. Some great holes, huge crowds, conditioning can be ???

To me it is always worth cab fare, hired driver or a cheap one-day rental to get to the great golf in Vegas and around Vegas and not get raped. That's just me. I value very good golf experiences over convenience.

Clubs are included at places like Shadow Creek. Prices vary elsewhere from the 30s to the 60s. Course websites have the rates. There are several rental services in town.

We've been offered $119/green fees & cart, $35/club rental, & complimentary Limo service to/from MGM to Desert Pines, which I was told the course was in excellent shape.

Does this seem like a fair deal, or are their courses on the same level or better, for a more economical price?

I don't play, but my buddy does and I read this to him. While he's never played Desert Pines, he thought $119 fees/cart and $35 club rental was a decent price when you're throwing in limo to/from into the mix.

Cool. Thanks for the heads up.

Anybody know what course usually charge for beers? We'll have 10-14 guys golfing from STL, & we typically don't golf unless there are several frosty beers consumed during our round.

When are you going? Rates change a lot depending on what time of year.
That's a great rate for April, not so good for this week, or in August.

Beers at Desert Pines were $5, maybe $6.

    We're golfing on February 6th or 7th.

Any particular courses that we should give a call to see what their best deal would be?

    angel park

We played angel park on jan 16 amd 17 a thursday and friday amd where charged 79 dollars for 36 holes {if you want to play that much} clubs where in the price along with range balls.

They will pick you up free if you had at least 6 with a max of 10 I think they only had 1 van but saw another in parking lot.

I think that offer expires jan 31 but it could not hurt to call them to find out

I'll check their pricing & accommodations for our group tomorrow to see how it compares with our current offer for Desert Pines.

Okay then, that is not such a great rate. We played there in December and paid $89. Plus a $20 resort fee. I'm kidding about the resort fee. :evillaugh

Badlands, which is right next to Angel Park, is competitively priced. It has three 9 hole layouts. Very interesting track. Give them a call.

Angel Park is an easier, lose less balls, course though if that is more important.

So the $119/Greens fee & $35 Club Rental is pricey for February?

I'll call Badlands $ Angel Park tomorrow AM to check their rates.

I'd just hit eight or 10 websites of courses as most clubs try to drive traffic through their websites and the best deals usually are listed there. Plus you can see photos and what not, and not burn time calling pro shop after pro shop.
