Why the GC resort fee is the same as the Orleans is beyond me. The Orleans has a good pool and I like their rooms better. Sometimes I'll see a movie at the Orleans and the Courtyard Café is nice among other things. The resort fee if their should be one should be less than the Orleans.

In my opinion, whilst I hate resort fees, the value of it at both these properties is the in room WiFi for up to three devices. Many of the higher resort fees only include one device per room.

The resort fee isn't a fee based on it's value as a resort. It's a fee that covers specific services and amenities and no hotel in Vegas includes the pool in their resort fee. In the case of Orleans and Gold Coast, it covers the same WiFi and from what I can tell nothing else. It makes sense that it's the same. As for the other hotels on the strip, It doesn't make sense that so many are at $20+ considering the quality of some of their inclusions. Unless you are provide really quick Wi Fi and a killer gym, there is no excuse to charge so much.

The first resort fee we ever encountered was at the Gold Coast.

My wife about had a stroke, she was so mad. "What? How much?!! We've stayed here before! Who are you kidding - that this is some kind of a RESORT?!!"

If our reservation hadn't been pre-paid through a package, we surely would have left.

She won't go back, and I'm not so sure I want to either - especially since they replaced their coffee shop with a TGI Friday's.

If your rooms at the Gold Coast & Orleans is comped up-front, and they waive the resort fee ... do they still make you pay for the in-room wi-fi ?

Main Street Station does not yet have a resort fee, but even with our room comped, they will still charge for the wi-fi. Instead, I "grab" a Fremont Street signal through our room window.
