Planning to take the SDX to the strip, then how to get to Orleans?

There are many bus experts on this site, so I may be wrong. But I would take the $2 WAX bus to the Trop, walk across the street to NYNY and catch the bus there for Orleans.

That is what I would do too. Especially with luggage.
However, if you have business at the LV Blvd at Flamingo, take a strip bus and then get off at Bellagio, do what you like, and then walk all the way almost to the far back end of Bally's on Flamingo and there is a free Coast shuttle from there to the Orleans picking up along Bally's.
The pickup point at Bally's is not at the Main Entrance! You must go down the escalator to the lower level shop area. The escalator is located near the coffee shop. Then you must walk through that area toward the food court and the Race and Sportsbook. Go out the exit to the left of the food court and that is where the shuttle picks up and drops off.
However, that is much longer. And it can be more expensive. You can pay just $5 for a 24 hour pass when you board the WAX downtown, and it will be good also on the 201 from NYNY to Orleans and if you retrace your route to get back downtown, it will pay for that too as long as your last bus is boarded within 24 hours of the time you bought the 24 hour pass.
