So, after going back and forth on where I want to stay for my 4-night downtown Las Vegas trip, I've finally settled on The Plaza. I've heard a lot of good things about The Plaza on this message board and I'm excited to stay there for the first time. I believe I got a good rate for 4 nights (Tue-Sat) for $221 including resort fees. I considered The Cal, Four Queens, Golden Nugget, MSS and Fremont and The Plaza seemed like the best value when taking into consideration that I need the daily WiFi. So what can I expect from those who've stayed there lately? Have you enjoyed it? Anyone try the $20 trick there? Thanks in advance!

Large clean rooms that were redone with the Fountainbleu furniture. Good VP tables at the Omaha bar and live music after 9 PM, but I'm not sure if that is only on the weekend. The perfume smell they pump into the casino is a bit overwhelming at first, but you'll get used to it.

If I didn't get treated so well at Boyd, I'd consider staying there. Just for a change of pace, we stayed there for 4 nights in Feb.

The only food we ate there was a dinner at Oscar's. Food was good, albeit a bit pricey. If you want morning coffee, avoid the Omaha bar and walk to the McDonald's that is on premises. You'll thank me later. It is some instant swill that comes out of a machine at the bar.

Ya what's with that? Making a decent cup of coffee isn't hard or expensive. When I get that stuff (Nescafe?) I switch to a Bloody to spite em. Silverton used to serve Starbucks at the tables but I think they switched to something cheaper like Seattle best. Still pretty good coffee.

I'm also giving Plaza a try this summer. I've never stayed there but am looking forward to it.

I have to agree regarding the coffee. Plaza and 4Q have terrible coffee on the casino floor. McD is a good option at both. In the case of 4Q, you have to go to the McD at the D but it's very close.

We tried them last year and were very pleased. We had gotten an email that said call for current offers so we did. Doing a 2night BOGO and our rate including taxes and resort fees for a Saturday night in September was less than half the website rate.

I was their in April and really liked it. The coffee shop by the front desk is excellent and my partner in crime loves that they bring in Krispy Kreme.

Good info. It was nice meeting you at the Boars Head at the end of May.

My room at the Plaza was great. The dealers were great fun too. I really had a good stay there. I'm headed back next month

I always like staying at the PLAZA...My home away from home downtown... Love HHAG a couple of times during our stay and always have some great pizza at the PLAZA. The games are spotty, I usually play craps and BJ. Most of the craps dealers and pit critters are some of the best. I have had great times at BJ and then they have whipped me pretty bad a few times. My wife has a few slot machines there she loves and plays them for many hours. Drink service can be slow but if you are at the tables and tip well ($5) you will have all the drinks you want. Curt is one of the hosts there, stop in and see him. I usually get morning coffee and a sausage biscuit in the morning at the Mickey Ds while the wife is sleeping. Hope you enjoy your stay there, we will be back the end of Aug. Everything downtown is accessible from the PLAZA..................

Thanks PTC Larry. I wondered about the drink service since the one time I gambled there (almost 3 years ago), the cocktail waitresses barely came around by us. We were playing video poker. Last month we were at Main Street station and we couldn't drink fast enough before the cocktail waitress came by with more. THAT was impressive. Hoping to have better luck in September at The Plaza or I will have to give my play to MSS and The Cal.

I walked into the casino and felt dirty but it may have been because I'd been at Vegas club first. I know other than the bed being average (all seems that way compared to my own) i was very impressed with the grand

Edited to add - This is my personal opinion.
I stayed 2 nights at the Plaza during Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival 2015.
Overall - It can be a FAIR value for the price.
The room was spacious with an attractive decor.

The Good = Rooftop pool on FSE.
The Bad = It's a bit run down.
    The Ugly = The bathrooms.

There are a few quirks that make it difficult for me to return.

*Strange wedge shaped layout of the bathroom area...
The largest area of the wedge is the empty closet rod & safe/luggage jack.
The sink and vanity is cramped.
A 3/4 size door opens into the tiniest bathroom I've ever seen in a hotel.
The bath tub is not even a standard size.

*The elevators are very old & are in SERIOUS need of maintenance.

*I was overcharged and received attitude at checkout.
A call to accounting resolved the incorrect charges.

Minor details to take note of:
There is a fair amount of noise from Fremont if you face FSE...that's to be expected.
My room had 2 adjoining doors on each side.

Will post a few upon return.

Glad to hear good things as I didn't know what I was walking into...

Yes, watch your bill at checkout, they are rude, understaffed and miserable. I was overcharged as well and actually had to dispute the charge with the CC company. The shitter is so small Tyrion Lannister couldn't fit in it.
