So I have the itch to visit Vegas, hopefully in a couple years I will be living there but until then, well we all know.

Anyways, I always fly SWA, I love them, they make me happy and have great flight times BUT their prices are not too cheap from CMH anymore like they use to be. I was bored and was looking at Expedia and find that I can get 3 nights plus RT air for like $320 at the Flamingo, problem is I dont know if I want to stay on the strip, same prices can be had on Fremont St but the flight times, as usual suck and are not non-stop or direct. I am mixed on what to do if I decide to make the trip out, spend more for a flight I like on an airline I am happy with and at a hotel I surely would want or spend less and be able to make it more than likely have a bigger budget to have and be just as happy.

I agree, it is getting harder and harder to find a deal CMH to LAS. I have been watching for the fare to drop for a couple months. Last week it drops to $305 R/T for our Feb trip, so I book my gf's first, go back to book mine and it had went up to $340! I have been watching and it hasnt dropped since! 2011 we flew out in Dec for $99 out and $99 back, didnt see anything close to that this year!!

I have considered flying another airline, which can often be had for about $200 R/T, the flighs are 6 or more hours with stops though, but if it continues I will go that route in the future.

And that is the problem for me, for what SWA is charging for a flight, I can get the room and air for the same price but I add to my travel time. I thought about going on a limb and booking the trip and staying at cosmo, iv wanted to stay there and I can get room/air for about 700 including a terrace suite. I dont know, its a hard choice. Working at the casino in Columbus, the whole gaming thing is not a big deal to me anymore, its more of just being in Vegas that allures me now

Yeah, this could possibly be my last SWA flight, I am paying for two persons, so the savings is signifigant, I figure I will just add a day to the trip to make up for the extra travel. I get free rooms thru CET, so it wont be an extra expense to add an extra day.

I agree, we really enjoy the new Casino, its about a 45 min drive, so not a big deal. I am sure I will gamble more in Columbus this year than in LV. I am so busy while in LV, I hardly have time to gamble!

I dont know what the deal with SWA is, their fares have gone way up this year, much more than the other airlines I compare them with.

I live/drive an hour to the new casino, we maybe neighbors, LOL.

Get a marquee rewards card if you gamble there, not for sure but you may get some comp room at M resort with it, that is our Vegas property. I still get my dads mail after his passing and I got a thing from Hollywood in IN for him to go to M resort just the other day.

I think SWA is catching up on having the lower fares from when others were sky high, they buy their jet fuel a few years ahead of time so they maybe making up for the higher cost a few years ago.

I did just that, got a card as soon as I walked in the door. I think I racked up almost 500 points xmas day, not sure what that will equate to. Doesnt look like you can check your points online yet. I noticed that about M, that would be a sweet deal and would def help me convince the gf that we need to go to the Casino more often. M is a big upgrade over Flamingo!!

I live out by Buckeye Lake.

We are practically neighbors, I am in Newark.

Penn just aquired M a year or 2 ago so they are still working on getting everything merged from my understanding, I know if I get to move to Vegas, I am going to try for a transfer to M. Hollywoods card basically is $1-1point on slots and $2=1 point on Video Poker. As for comps we do comp dollars on your card, so if your card says you have for example $22 then you have that much in comps to spend at the property for food, valet, gift shop and in the coming year or 2, the hotel.

HA! We spend a lot of time in Newark in the winter. I cant say enough how impressed I am with Hollywood, its a major improvement over Wheeling Island, which I think is basically a dump. I played a bit of VP at the bar and had a great time on Xmas day. I loved the craft beer offerings and the atmosphere. We were going to go try the Steakhouse last night, but the weather kept us away. I really hope they hook things up with M, that would be a great bonus for going there!

The Final Cut is the only place I did not get to sample before we opened and that was only because the days they were doing it was my days off, but I hear the food is great. I liked the Epic Buffet, but the reports on the forums are mixed about it, but again, it was free so I could not complain

You need to remember most other airlines are gonna charge you $25 to check 1 bag each way. So add $50 for that cheaper ticket if you check a bag. Now that $200 ticket just cost you $250. Is an extra $50 worth the extra stop?
I've noticed the same thing with prices going up flying Southwest out of Rhode Island. Now that SW cancelled their direct flights out of this airport I have to make a stop either way, so i'm going with the best deal I can get (which isnt southwest anymore)

I found $170 out from Indy to LV for wife and myself, which was not a great deal, but we are taking Frontier back home with a 45 min layover in Den for $70 each. I couldn't pass that up. So less than $500 RT I was pretty happy!

I'm so glad I don't have to pay for Airfare anymore. Seems like it's all one big game! But flying standby isn't always what it's cracked up to be.
