I'll be at Cosmo over NYE with my sister and BIL. I can get my room comped but a second room, understandably, will be pricey. So I thought I'd try to get them a room at a nearby Mlife property. And it looks like I can get Aria or MC comped for the nights in question.

The issue is that I won't play much at that casino. I've given Aria quite a bit of action over the past year, I have a decent host there and get much better Aria-specific offers than I do general Mlife ones. I'd like to keep getting these good offers from Aria for future trips.

I know that my low playing on this trip will lower my Mlife ADT and likely impact my general offers. But, if I book MC instead of Aria (and don't play any at Aria this trip), will that keep me in better standing with my host at Aria and do less damage to my Aria-specific offers going forward?

Obviously, Aria is closer to Cosmo (and, of course, a nicer property). So that would be our first choice for the second hotel room. But if I can do less damage to my future Aria offers by low playing MC instead of Aria, then sis and BIL can walk the extra few minutes to get to Cosmo!

(I know these types of questions get asked a lot...thanks for indulging me.)

Im unsure how much the property specific offers are tied to the general Mlife numbers, but it can't be good to low play.

How low are we talking will your action be enough to cover the cost of the room at Aria or MC? Basically will your theo be more then 3 times the rate of the room? I was told not getting enough theo to cover your upfront comps is a red flag in the system for corporate offers. Others might no more.

If you end up using MC's room and low-playing, it won't affect your Aria offers.

Thanks for the responses, guys (gals?)

Is it fair to assume that I shouldn't use any of my built up EC's at Aria if I don't want to hurt future offers there?

I don't think using your EC's will help or hurt at all.

But, just a heads up - your relatives will think anything you pick up is just free give away money. Just like airline miles, other folks think they are free and pretty much unlimited. Just sayin.

Actually, what we have done on a few trips is to tell folks we can get a good discount and will pick up the meal, and they can pick up the tip.

Lol. I hear you. Fortunately, my sister is a Vegas fanatic but has been out of commission, so to speak, with her 9 month old boy for the past few years, so she has an idea of how things work. She has already expressed her desire to not "use up" my comps at properties I want to stay at in the future.

But she's also my baby sis so I can't have her paying NYE prices when I can get it "free".

Sounds like you have things working okay. We have spent lots of comps/points on family - within reason. Damned express comps are hard for me to spend. We usually get most food covered, and drinks, and at least one pair of show tickets. CET is another story. They are close to gone.

Unlike some of my relatives that think I should give them airline miles. It is beyond their understanding that when the miles are gone, then I will have to pay for my flights - all because they took the "free" ones.

Yeah. That's definitely the plan unless someone can tell me with certainty that there's no difference between booking Aria and MC. It's not like they'll complain...or at least they better not!

    Agree with this.
The walk through the north entrance of Aria right into lobby of MC is easy.Just have to go up one flight of stairs out of back door at Cosmo.
That would be the route on NYE.

Great question. I think the answer is that booking MC and low playing will probably still hurt your Aria offers.

I'm basing that on the fact that I only get property-specific offers from MGM Grand and Aria. I haven't stayed at Aria in a year and a half, just MGM Grand. The last two trips, I had really high play at MGM Grand, and my offers from them went up significantly. And so did my Aria offers.

So I'd expect it will work the same way in the other direction.

You'll probably also start to get property-specific offers from MC.

That is precisely my experience but with Mirage and Aria.

what you do at MC won't affect anything at Aria.

Why wouldn't Aria's system see his play on his next trip (regardless of where it occurs) and adjust his offers accordingly?

Each MGM casino is it's own P&L center. It doesn't benefit them if you are at another casino as it doesn't help their P&L. [It does help MGM Resorts corporate of course - if you loose :(]

This is why you might get better corporate offers, but not casino specific offers. Obviously it doesn't benefit your host either since he/she works for a specif casino, not corporate.

Thanks for all the input, gang. Very much appreciated.

I went ahead and booked sis and BIL a Monaco suite at MC. Shouldn't be that much more of a hassle than having them stay at Aria and they'll be happy enough since it's free.

he was talking about affecting his host relationship at Aria.

as far as offers, who knows what they look at.

I haven't gotten an offer from any other property than MGM in years as that's the only place I stay anymore.

if Aria, etc looked at play at other casinos for offers, I'd figure I'd get a lot of offers.

I have first hand exprience of doing exactly the same thing, twice, at Excalibur, not MC.
It didn't affect my Bellagio or Aria offers.
So I agree with what shifter said.
I assume it affected my Mlife Corp offers, but everyone also says their offers reduced.
