My good friend's father passed while I was in vegas on Monday. The funeral is tomorrow. Is it ok to bring flowers to the funeral if I cannot order them for delivery in time?

Sure. Used to work in funeral home and if was common. Just talk to funeral home personnel and they will place them for you

They are only doing a "Greek" ceremony and then a dinner. This is the first time I've gone to a funeral without a burial. Kind of new to me. Not sure if they could have possibly done the burial yesterday but that would seem odd. Also, maybe the mass and dinner is tomorrow while the burial is on Saturday?

My buddy only gave me the address for the church and dinner afterwards. That is why I am thinking the burial is on Saturday.

    Sorry for your loss...
my family was in the business for many years till dad retired...

from what you wrote i would say the deceased is being cremated or the body donated to a medical school...thus the no burial...

of course bring the flowers, but your presence is more important... again, my condolences

I like doing a donation at the funeral home instead of flowers. But, that's me. Most funeral homes and/or their websites make it easy to make a donation. Slipping a gift card for a takeout place to the family isn't a bad idea either.

I wasn't sure what to say to broncofn. Sometimes others say it for you in a much more beautiful way than you can say it yourself.

    Thank you chess.
