Staying Downtown and attending CTIA at the Sands Convention Center.

Looks like Deuce to TI, cross over, then a long hike through Venetian.

I could take SDX to a partner hotel then ride convention shuttles to Sands... but that is as much walking as the Deuce route? Plus with city buses I can come and go at will... you know arrive late and leave early?

Any better ideas out there... remember I'm a cheapskate and taking a cab is not in my nature.

What you say is probably your best option. And yeah - that will be a hike for you.

I attended (and will attend this year) the ASD show at the LV Convention Center -- I take the Deuce (I get a 3-day pass) to the Wynn and take the shuttle from the Wynn to the Convention Center. Cheapest way I found.

not sure if it's much faster but you could get off near the spring mountain/sands/lvb intersection and go through the palazzo. IMHO, it is faster to get to the sands convention center from the palazzo, you don't have to fight the casino crowd because their aisles are much wider (at the venetian, the aisles by the gaming tables are usually blocked because of conventioneers).

Squid .... Help me out with this: are the Las Vegas Convention Center & the Sands Convention center different? If so, are they far apart.

The reason that I ask is because the SDX drops off & picks up at the LV Conv Center.

Also, the CX (Centennial Express) runs almost nonstop from downtown to the edge of the Fashion Show Mall. It seems like that would be a lot faster than the Deuce.

Interesting puzzle. I look forward to other responses.

Like you, I have developed an aversion to the cabs.

robert, the lvcc is located near the old LV hilton (or whatever it is called nowadays) on paradise road.

The sands expo is connected to the venetian and palazzo hotel and is about 5 minutes away from the lvcc by car (maybe 15 to 20 minutes away during the conventions, lol). Many conventions use both the lvcc and the sands expo but some other conventions just use the sands expo only and others only use the lvcc.

usually the conventions that use both the lvcc and the sands expo have shuttles to get you between the 2 locations but you can also use the monorail to get from the lvcc to the harrahs station and walk across the street to the venetian and the sands expo.

    Makiki

If I understand correctly, you are suggesting taking the SDX and exiting at the Fashion Show Mall, crossing over LV Blvd. in front of Wynn then cross over Sands Ave to Palazzo to access the Sands Convention Center?

Rather take SDX than Deuce any day!

I have never stepped inside the Wynn, Encore, or Palazzo... I'm such a Down-town snob? I guess I'm going to have a little Strip exploration to do for the first time in years! :eek2

Squid, the SDX drops off at FSM on its southbound journey.

However....the SDX does not depart downtown until either 9 or 9:30 a.m. May be too late for you.

The CX (Centennial Express) has an earlier departure from downtown & goes almost directly to FSM.
It travels Hwy 15. Exact times are on the website: www.rtcsnv.com.

You haven't seen Wynn/Encore, Venetian/Palazzo yet? Well, you are in for a treat! These places have some of the most eye catching interior decorating anywhere. It is a walk that is definitely worth your time.

    Best wishes!

HA! Have you ever read my trip reports? If I finish drinking coffee and playing video poker at the Boars Head Bar in MSS by 11:00 am, I'm doing good.

But thanks for reminding me of the CX, I had forgotten about that option, another alternative to the Deuce is always a good thing!
