I get comped rooms for my trips so the friends I go with get to take advantage of a free room which they could not get otherwise. Not once has anyone offered me anything for the fact that they were getting a free ride because of me...not even really a thank you. Not that I really care but if I got a free room because of something someone else did I think I would offer them something (a beer, a burger, a blow job (not give them one but pay for one for them :Þ, ) just to show my gratitude. Are my friends just losers?

    Doesn't sound good.
Usually my friends will pay for the car rental since they are getting a free room.
With friends like yours I would suggest the following. "Since I'm getting you a free room($40/day value) why don't you"... pay for the rental car, pay for the show tickets, pay for the steak dinner.....

I would say "Since I am taking care of the room"; tell them you got a special price and saved "us" X # of $'s....so you (guys) can spring for the ............

I had the same problem with comps for food and room.....all aboard until the next trip when I said I could only get a King (no way) and asked for separate checks at meals....and these were good friends who apparently are just CHEAP.....but you live and learn.

Yes, at the moment, you have some friends I recognize......

Yeah not cool for them to spring for dinner and a breakfast or something.

On SB weekend I had three comped nights at Palazzo and had to pay for Saturday. My buddy paid for Sat since I had the other three taken care of.

Also.....if I pick up dinner (knowing it will be comped), I think the hanger oners should pay a 20 to 25% cash tip. I've played to earn that dinner, the tip isn't comped......at least you can do is pick up the tip. Same goes for limo. I may be comped, but I still cash tip the driver $20-30,

Every friend that I've gotten a comped room, discounted room, or comped meal have reciprocated in some way. If I get them a room, they buy me dinner. If I get them a comped meal, they pay the tip. My friends have always offered me something in return along with constant gratitude. I get these things for them because I love their company, and that they return the favor makes me feel extra good.

To be fair, if a friend doesn't gamble and just enjoys being in Vegas, shows, shopping etc. I don't think that they get how everything works. But after it is explained to someone, I can't imagine that they wouldn't step up.

The worst is when a friend calls to see if you can get them a room for free even when you are not going.

My response is always "do you think they give me free rooms based on my looks"?

I give my buddy one of my player cards and make him gamble on it for a day. He has no problem with that.

On my most recent trip, one friend took me to SW at Wynn and my other friend paid for a lunch and a dinner out. The one that took me to SW paid for all taxis plus she had me stay with her for 6 weeks at her timeshare in Mexico.

Earlier trips, one friend took me to MJ One, Joan Rivers and Wanda Sykes as well as a meal here or there.

Though not expected.it is definitely nice to do something like this.

    Yes, they are Losers.
I have become tired of all the people who are just out to get a hand-out, without even a Thank You.
Loser people just assume that since you are being comped, that the casino is paying for it all,
so you are not actually giving them anything out of your own pocket, so why should they thank you?
Screw these people who have this attitude, and I never invite them back....their loss, as far as I am concerned.

I have other friends who are not financially sound, but at least they eagerly help out and run errands for me, with pleasure,
in return for attending my parties (see my Old Trip reports for the type of parties I like to have in Vegas.)
For example, I will give them the cash, and they will go and hunt down a case of Dom in Vegas, or get the sushi for a party and deliver it to the room on time etc.
I appreciate their help, and their great company, and it makes the whole party a fun group effort that we all enjoy.
    And they get invited back.

    +1

At this point, my friends know I get a certain amount of things comped, and they'll pay for some shit... tips, drinks, misc. I'll let them know though when I'm at my max and not to charge more things and they respect that.

God do I hate this. Happens all the time. I don't own the hotel. How do I get you a free room?

I have some friends like this. One trip I had a comp room through mlife and used a myVegas reward to get my friends a comp'd room. Barely got a thank you after we landed back home and got dropped off at the car. In fact, we didn't spend much time together on the trip. We don't go to vegas together anymore.

I don't go often enough for this to become an issue for me, but I could forgive my friends looking for free rooms, because I downplay the amount of time and lost money involved in getting said rooms. I make it sound a little more like savvy, rather than degenerate gambling. That being said, all have been pleased to pay the tip on comped meals.

I always try to negotiate something prior to the trip starting. I just tell them I got the room taken care of now I am going to run a large dinner or bar tab up on you. We both laugh a little bit but it gets the point across.

I had a friend like that. Last time I shared a 'free' room with them in Vegas :) .

My friends are usually good with picking up a cab fare or meal here or there when they are stating in my comped room. But I think this past trip was a real eye opener for my buddy(who I usually travel to Vegas with) We stayed in separate rooms bc he was there with his wife. He got to MGM and had to wait in the regular long line. Not the quick vip line like he does with me. Then then they told him his room wasn't ready..... which I had no problem getting free early checkin with a room available. Then this trip he played a lot more than usual and he tried to get something comped on the back end (since he was paying for the room) and all they would do would give him an extra $50 off the cost of the suite. I think he finally realized how much I actually spend in the casino to get the few perks I do get.
