I am bringing my sister in law out in February for the first time  SOOOO excited!! It's only my 2nd time too, but I know we are gonna have tons of fun. This is my dilemma, I have 6 kids and she has 3, we both hardly ever get time for ourselves which is why I'm "kidnapping" her. We don't have a lot of money to spend, and I know the Fremont has a deal going for 30.00/night. We are coming Monday thru Friday, and can afford more than what the Fremont is charging but if we can get by cheap that's cool too. So what is everyone's opinion?! Whats the best value for your buck?!

The bathroom in your hotel room at the Fremont is not going to have enough sink/vanity space for two ladies' toiletries. You could probably get The D at the same price and have more counter space.

Like Candy Apple said, The D would likely offer your more bathroom space. Also, look into the El Cortez Cabana suites. Their bathrooms are quite nice, spacious, and very modern (just renovated a couple years ago). Depending on what part of the week you're going, you can probably get about the same price as the Fremont. I've never paid more than $35 a night for a Cabana Suite. Free water, candy, and fruit in the lobby, too.

Also, if you want you can save some money by using their free car to the airport. They call it a "free shuttle," but that's just poor advertising on their part (IMHO). This shuttle is actually a nice sedan with a very cool driver. Same guy has worked their for years. They don't pick you up at the airport, but will take you back for free if you're staying at El Cortez. You just tip the driver.

Bonus Tip: The car/shuttle driver usually just hangs out in the check-in driveway area between airport runs. If he doesn't have one coming up, he'll take you anywhere in Vegas. Again, just for tips. I found this out by accident by walking outside asking for a taxi, and he offered to take me to Cosmopolitan for free. I took his offer, tipped him, and we were both happy. Nice benefit.

The rooms are not as big at the Fremont, though it was clean and comfortable. The bathroom as noted is smaller. Overall the casino is fine, located about the center of Fremont St. If you are looking to save a bit the Fremont should be fine.

On the Cabana Suites... Agreed, very nice for the price. There's a buy one get one coupon in the American Casino Guide that can be used for the Cabana Jr Suite. When was there a few days ago it was only free candy (no fruit or water) in the lobby. Wish I knew the shuttle would take me to more than just the airport, nice tip!

If it's not too late, I would switch to a 'Sunday through Thursday' trip & fly back home on Friday... get players cards everywhere you gamble... you might be surprised how easily you & your friend can get your entire stay comped if you stay & mostly-play at a Boyd casino...and, if nothing else, for the next trip you may very well be able to combine your mailed offers & stay for up to 6 nights, comped up-front...

As noted by others, the Fremont room bathrooms really are tiny...but if you & your SIL get along well, working out the timing for bathroom use shouldn't pose too much trouble...just keep your toiletries in the room itself - not in the bathroom... and, what me & my buddy do is get two adjoining rooms at Fremont... so, it's sort-of like having a 2-bedroom, 2-bath suite... sort of... the new rooms at 'theD' (fitzgeralds) are much nicer than they used to be, so as mentioned above, that is also an option... the El Cortez, in my opinion, should be done on later trips... ya'll are gonna want to be there in the heart of FSE, and 'theD' is right on the edge...I wouldn't go further for her first trip.

Mostly, have fun & enjoy the temporary escape from 'mom-hood'...

Seems like forever from now, but the flights are booked, so it counts!

    Fremont

I loved the Fremont when we stayed there. We two ladies had no problem sharing the bathroom. Its not a lot smaller than the bathroom I use every day at home. The rooms are clean, and very cute! You also can get two beds, which you won't be able to do at the Cabana Suites. (single bedded only)

Definitely get a players card, because the deals will roll in. (not that its that expensive normally anyway) Cheap eats and drink can be found up and down Fremont, and the gambling is reasonable. I always have a great time downtown!

Have a fun girls weekend and we look forward to your trip report!
