I have reservations at Fremont but thinking about changing to The California instead?

We've stayed downtown but not at either of these properites.

Any big differences that I should be aware of? Rooms, Staff, Parking etc. Fremont is $40 cheaper for the stay. Although $40 is no big deal, just wondered if it's worth changing my reservation for?

    Thanks for your input. :peace:

parking at the fremont is valet so expect to pay a few bucks extra per day to get your car. parking at the cal is self serve and free for hotel guests (get a hotel pass at the front desk for free parking) although valet is also available at the cal.

I think there are pluses and minuses to both places. fremont has small bathrooms and small rooms depending on where they place you. the fremont is great because some elevators take you directly you to the casino floor so it's easy get around and you are right on the FSE. many are comfortable with the fremont as it has a cozy feel to it.

the cal rooms IMHO are bigger and the west tower bathrooms are much larger than the fremont bathrooms. but then the cal is a block away from the fse so you have to walk the block if you want to get to and from the fse. the cal also has a walkway to mss so great to go between casinos without going outside.

for me, since I usually rent a car I prefer the cal over fremont, especially since I go in and out of the place regularly (at $2 tip I would end up paying $8 to $10 a day extra).

I think it all depends on what your priorities are, whether you don't mind tipping the valet for your car, if small bathrooms are a problem (google tripadvisor fremont las vegas to see pictures of the rooms), or if location is a big issue.

Just curious, did you rule out Main Street, or didn't consider it for some reason?

    Hi Joe,

Actually MSS was my first choice as we've stayed there before. However, their website said they are sold out for the days I was looking at. Plus I thought we might try something different.

Thanks Makikiboy for the info about parking and the valet as we do rent a car while we're in town.

The staff is friendly and nice at both because its the same company. The rooms are a lot smaller at Fremont, for some that's a deal breaker. The Cal has a parking garage and Valet, Fremont only has Valet and no other parking. The Cal is attached via sky walk to Main Street station which has a killer buffet and award winning brew pub. If your willing to consider Main Street Station I would recommend it instead of either Cal/Fremont. If you haven't already join Bconnected club for room, buffet and gift shop discounts.
