Does anyone know if free bet blackjack is available in Las Vegas casinos? I've been playing it with MyVegas blackjack mobile app and it seems a little bit better than regular blackjack. I have seen ads for it at the Sands in PA. I wonder though are the rules different in casinos vs the app.

Yes, several casinos have it, including the D, Golden Gate, Mandalay Bay.. There was a website that listed all casinos w/ FBBJ but I couldn't find it with a quick google search.
and the rules are similar to myVegas mobile app, but you can do more at the table. example - if you split 8s at the table and get another 8, you can split again, for free. the app doesn't allow that.

I have seen it at NYNY and the table is almost always packed. It is in the tables pit nearest the escalators to Coyote Ugly and the skywalks to MGM and Excalibur

Pretty much all MGM casinos have it. I believe in the casino, you can free resplit and free double after split, unlike the app game.

And free resplit is a huge plus over the app. It helps the player 0.32% according to the Wizard of Odds.

I thought you could free double after your one and only split in the app though.

I played at the Golden Nugget when it first came out, and then you could double at anytime. That didn't last long.

Played at Cosmo. $25 min. Lost $600 lol. Had an idiot take the free bet of spliting 5's instead of doubling them. Obviously he screwed the hand.

They just put this in my local casino and I played a little bit the other day. Free bet doubles were on any 9, 10 or 11. Is that typical? They let me do a regular pay double on soft hands also - it was just not a free bet. Is there any strategy difference on those doubles caused by the push on 22? If that does happen you at least don't lose on the double so I would think the soft hand doubles would be the same as a regular game - but would appreciate any insight on that or other differences in basic strategy between regular blackjack and free bet (other than I assume you take the free bet whenever it is offered ?)

I played FBBJ at the Plaza last Thanksgiving. In my last hand I bet $25 and got to split 7's three times and double on a 10 hand. Four Free Bets out there and the Dealer draws to 22 for the Push.

Actually with the "push 22" rule the dealer busts less, so you actually are more conservative on doubles you have to pay for. A couple uncommon exceptions, if you get a soft 19 or soft 20 after a free split, you sometimes will pay to double these against big bust cards.

The Wizard of Odds has the full strategy charts as previously mentioned. But yes, always take a free bet when offered. It might be intimidating with 4s vs. a ten, but a free bet makes up for that.

Unless they are playing the game wrong. Viejas in CA gave free doubles to A8, A9 for awhile at least. That helps the player by about 0.22% as you would free double all soft 19s except vs. 8 and soft 20s vs. 3-6.

Free Bets are only offered on HARD 9, 10, and 11. And thankfully, you can get the free bets on splits up to 4 hands, unlike the myVegas version. If I remember correctly, you can also resplit As up to 4 hands as well, but still only one card is dealt on each A. As of right now, this game is in many casinos in Vegas:

    Mandalay Bay (3:2, CSM)
MGM Grand (3:2, 6 deck shoe, hand shuffle?)
NYNY (3:2, 6 deck shoe, hand shuffle)
    Cosmo (3:2, CSM)
    Mirage (3:2, CSM)
Venetian (3:2, 3 tables, 6 or 8 deck shoes, shuffle machine)
Palazzo (3:2, 3 tables, 6 or 8 deck shoes, shuffle machine)
    Aria (3:2, CSM)
Golden Nugget (6:5, SD)(I believe they got rid of the original 6 deck 3:2 table a while ago)
The D (3:2, DD, shuffle machine?)
Golden Gate (3:2, 2 tables, DD, shuffle machine?)
The Plaza (haven't played it here yet)
Hard Rock (haven't played it here yet, but plan to next month)
Casino Royale (6:5, several tables, never played it here, and never will, due to 6:5)

Planet Hollywood, Wynn, Encore, and Luxor were supposed to have tables by now, but they are all dragging their feet. Maybe one of these days!

The D and Golden Gate both use shuffle machines. The Plaza is 3:2 DD with shuffle machine.

Thanks! I couldn't remember, since I have only played there a couple times, and both times were short sessions. Will have to visit the Plaza and play as well.

I've seen it at Cosmo for $15 this was the Tuesday after Super Bowl. Haven't personally seen it at $10.
