    My Trip Report

I've compiled four of my favorite Vegas trip reports into a memoir, Living La Vida Vegas.

Today and tomorrow, March 3rd and 4th, this ebook is FREE on Amazon: http://authl.it/4ts

I'm posting this link here with admin's permission. I hope you enjoy! No strings attached. I do appreciate reader reviews on Amazon.

    Here's an excerpt:

I arrived in Vegas mid-afternoon. Eager to begin my trip with class and style, I shared a stretch-limo from the airport to the Paris hotel-casino with six total strangers. On arrival, I let myself into what was unmistakably Chris’s room: several thick, nerdy computer-books and the latest issue of Men’s Health magazine lay scattered across one double-bed. In desperation, I tried the windows; but alas, they wouldn’t open. The computer books would live to see another day.

Chris entered the room still wearing his plastic name-badge from the conference, blabbing on about ASP, XML, and other pointless acronyms. Sensing that he was still trapped in work mode, I insisted we go directly to Caesar’s Forum Shoppes for some margaritas at La Salsa.
Our thirst sated, we window-shopped a bit, and I tried on a $4,000 black opal bracelet at a rather ra-sha-sha boutique. Try as I might, I couldn’t persuade skinflint Chris to spring for it. Well, at least I had three days to make him come around.

We had to rush back to the Paris just then, because Chris already had dinner plans at ritzy Delmonico’s steakhouse with some co-workers, and I wasn’t invited. “It’s a business dinner,” he pleaded. In response, I silently inserted a dollar into a Big Giant slot machine, won $2, collected the coins, and told Chris that if he needed me I’d be down at the Golden Gate choking down 99-cent shrimp cocktails and accepting drinks from any lout who would buy them for me. When Chris observed that this was the life I was always meant for, I stormed off to sulk by the Paris pool.

My quest for poolside relaxation proved fruitless. The Vegas weather may have been fair, but the Paris pool deck was windy, and I found it extraordinarily difficult to look glamorous reclining on a chaise lounge with the pages of my National Enquirer flapping violently about. So I retreated to our room and took a Disco Nap, raging over Chris living the proverbial Life of Riley at the Venetian — the idea! — and plotting my revenge.

I was awakened by Chris’s return and Asli’s arrival. Chris was all agog about his Delmonico’s steak dinner: the wine steward, the crab cake, the steak-tartare appetizers. By the time he got around to describing his perfectly-cooked filet mignon, I was ready to shove him face-first into a warming-tray full of Circus-Circus buffet slop. “I hope you get a headache from the Merlot!” I hissed as we made our way down to the Paris lobby.

“Abby, Abby,” Chris replied calmly. “You must be confusing me with someone else. Unlike you, Chris does not drink wine from a box.”

Thank you! Hope you enjoy. (I can't believe I ever drank that much and partied that hard, but I guess that's what your 20's are for....?) :wink2:
