Can't decide where to stay. We have reservations at both of these properties, and although I've heard that MSS has better rooms (and I do love the place), Four Queens has quite the advantage of being smack dab in the middle of it all.

My question is this. Has anyone ever stayed in these properties and are the standard rooms decent? I'm not expecting the Wynn. I've stayed at Fitzgeralds and found them clean and decent, and while I don't expect a bathroom you can land a plane in, I'd like to be able to shut the door if I'm using the toilet. :)

Any input would be greatly appreciated. :nworthy:

I've stayed at both through double booking, but I am a huge MSS fan.

The standard room has a tub & toilet in one room separated from the vanity by a door. Vanity not huge, but bigger than 4Q. All the MSS rooms now have a fridge, not sure about 4Q.

I'm not knocking 4Q, my brother and his wife just stayed there for 6 nights and really enjoyed it. They used 2 nights of my comp, 3 nights of their own and paid for 1 night. They comp them better than MSS, or he would stay there.

The walk to Fremont St is 3+ minutes. If you're concerned about safety, you can take the skybridge across the street to The Cal, go downstairs and cross the intersection and enter Vegas Club. Walk through and you are on Fremont St.

My review is biased because MSS treats us so well. As far as being in the center of things, I must admit there are some days we never leave the casino, so my review is also slanted because of that.

I've stayed at both and yes, the rooms are bigger and a bit nicer than 4 Q's, I like being in the middle of Fremont St. I have some mobility problems now so I would choose 4 Q's over MSS for that reason. Also, you don't get the noise at MSS.

I've stayed both places and the think the standard rooms are pretty similar. But I've found the bathrooms at 4Q to be a cut above MSS. Just a little more space. And I like being in the middle of the action and not have to traverse the street or bridge to get to Fremont St. But MSS is a great casino and I enjoy visiting, jut like the rooms at 4Q better (especially the bathrooms). Just a personal preference.

But you'll be able to close the door when you use the bathroom in both places.

I thought the rooms at these properties were about the same but would choose 4 Queens due to location. If the rooms are comp'd at both locations...keep both and spend one night at each

I've stayed at both and prefer the 4Qs. Make sure you get a room in the South tower if you stay there. I've also found they are more willing to comp my room at the Queens.

I used to stay at MSS almost exclusively while downtown but have stayed regularly at 4Qs for many visits in recent years. In fact, will be at 4Q next week.

I only stay downtown a night or two, so I'm not judging long stays, but here is my personal comparison.

    1. Overall room size: MSS rooms are bigger.

    2. Bathrooms: Both small, the MSS bathroom borders on being dysfunctional.

    3. Room amenities: Slight nod to MSS, furnishings just a tad nicer.

    4. Sleep: As long as you get a room facing south (away from Fremont St, either tower), 4Q will be quieter. MSS is one of the noisiest properties ever built because of the train behind, the freeway on one side, and a very busy/noisy Main St in front. MSS also has a slight issue with have a dark room at night b/c the fancy shutters don't close tightly.

    5. Location: Depends on your preferences, obviously, but being in the heart of Fremont has its advantages.

    6. Microbrews: Nod to MSS unless you know the secret location of the IPA tap at 4Q.

    7. Casino: MSS nicer overall, but easier to get to other downtown casinos from 4Q.

I know they usually have an IPA on tap upstairs at the Chicago Brewing Co bar.

Not a big fan of IPA, but my brother is and he claims it is one of the best he's had:beer:

I have not stayed at MSS, but I was amazed at how fast I could get from my room at 4Qs to fremont street. Stayed in the front tower near the elevator. I think that I could get from my room, on the elevator, around the corner and into my room in less then 15 big steps! but my room at the 4Qs made some crazy noise from the vents. This became an a problem as the noise sounded very similar to someone repeatedly swiping the card in the door, freaky at night.

I really really appreciate all of the comments. I didn't get comped, but got a rate at both places. It's going to be so hard to decide. I really love MSS and wanted to stay on BConnected's radar but 4Q is winning because of location, location, location! :wink Thanks again to all of you.

    mss vs 4q

I've stayed at both, and prefer the queen. MSS is larger, but the mattress was terrible. More run down rooms, and noisy. I prefer the front tower where mcgoo stayed at. You come in from Fremont street, hit the elevator and are in your room in 1 minute. Those rooms are smaller, but newer with better beds than their rooms in the rear tower. I stayed there for 5 nights and didn't have any problem with noise even though I was right over the casino. Going back on Dec 10 cant wait, 2 nights there, and 2 nights at either MSS, Fremont or CAL, on this site to decide, probably going with Fremont

Everyone has pretty much said it all I think. Well, maybe except for 2 points.

    Or 3.

FQ has hotel Wifi available for purchase in the rooms. MSS does not. (Maybe through a 3rd party?)

FQ's blackjack sucks lug nuts. Especially at lower denoms. So if you are into BJ, MSS wins. For VP its a tossup. (MSS full pay with scratch cards vs. DDB prog at bars and full pay DB/BP/Jacks at FQ).

FQ has room service. MSS does not - even if, apparently, you are desperately in need of anti-hurling toast points.

I do love the VP at MSS but I like it at 4Q too. I have decided to go with the 4Q. I love the casino and location is everything.

Thank you for all your input.

I will post a trip report when I return.
