Stopped by the Four Queens to play some video poker yesterday. This marks the end of full-pay nickel Jacks or Better video poker downtown. The 8 full-pay machines have been changed from 9/6 to a 9/5 payout.

The 9/6 quarter machines near the cage are still 9/6.

There is also a lot of construction in the block behind the Four Queens (LV City plat, block 20), where the old justice court and detention center used to be. That block was purchased by the owners of The D resort, but I don't know what they plan to do with it. Crews are in the final stages of demolishing the old court building. Here's a photo I took yesterday. It was taken from the 4th level of the Four Queens parking garage at around 12:30 pm 3/19/2014.

For reference, here is the original city plat. Block 20 has been reserved for public use since the city was platted in 1905.

Do those 8 machines (by security & Keno) still have 9/6 JOB (and 8/5 Bonus) for quarters, or did they lower those payoffs for all denominations & games in those machines ?

I only looked at JOB, but those are the 8 machines that were changed to 9/5.

Are there any 9/6 JOB quarter machines located on the strip?

VPfree2.com is reporting 8 slant-tops near NYNY hotel registration with 9/6 JoB (no points). That's the only thing I see on the Strip for 25-cent.

The 25c JoB on those machines are now 9/5 and the BP is now 7/5. The same as 5c.

Thanks for info went to that site and did search, was wondering why anyone would play those machines if not receiving any points? The Palms seems to be my best bet and one set of machines says $2 coin in per pt and excluded from promotions. Would the $2 be for all there machines because the rest of them doesn't mention anything about pts and the excluded from promotions is that referring to such things as your first $100 on us or something else?

Yes, but as I said you can still find 25-cent 9/6 JOB at Four Queens near the cashier.

Sidebar if you are playing 9/6 JOB and you get 10 hearts JQA in clubs and a Q in spades do you keep the 2 Q's for sure JOB, let a Q go for a possible straight or let the 10h and Qs go and go for the royal flush?

So the only time you go for the royal flush is when you are just 1 card away from it? I have to gat away from the gambling mindset and play according to strategy.

Not at all. Three to a royal is a common hold. In fact if you have three to a royal in diamonds, plus a small diamond, the better hold is to discard the low diamond and hold 3 to a royal. Likewise, you would forsake a small pair for 3 to a royal. I would guess that at least half of my royals are the product of a 3 to a royal hold.

You really should work on a poker trainer application. That will pop-up a suggestion when you don't play the best odds hold. There are lots of good free ones for both computers and smartphones. It's well worth your time to practice with a poker trainer.

You DO realize that's NOT JoB, but DoubleBonus, where 9/6/4 is a TERRIBLE paytable.

I had a video poker game on my tablet but just did a search for trainer and downloaded it.
PS out of chips already I guess it really doesn't pay to bet max credits on trainer!!!!

I think in any conventional video poker game, you hold the QQ, however 3Royal beats 4flush and 4straight as well as a lowpair.

You can play JOB at the nickel and dime level at the Skyline
Casino out Boulder Highway and they add a 25% bonus right now for royals.
    http://skylinehenderson.com/Promotions.html
go on Sunday and see the Dumkopf's band.

Eastside Cannery has one of the best quarter JOB, a 9/6/90 game. This gives a 99.996% payback.

Sam's Town has full pay deuces at the dime level (nickel machine, max bet 10)

Folks who search out frugal VP might want to give Boulder Highway a try.

Driven by Rampart many times but never went in and used to house at ST and still take the Boyd shuttle to visit once a trip (hopefully)....

Most video poker at the Palms take $1 coin-in to earn one point. (Look at the page for the Palms Players Club info on that site.)

All the Palms restricted machines should have stickers on them saying so. I believe the machines excluded from promos are not eligible to be played for the rebate but you can always check with the slot club to be sure.
