    My Trip Report

I'm getting really psyched about this trip but trying very hard not to. I've been trying to contain myself since I had to cancel this past spring because of my foot and we had to cancel another trip last fall because my husband wound up in the hospital. I figured that if I didn't control my excitement, something terrible would happen and this trip would never be. I wont show my excitement until I am on the ground in Vegas with a cocktail in hand. This will be our first trip in about a year without kids or friends so I'm planning to do lots of gambling and drinking as opposed to the family oriented stuff we do when we head out with others. Here is an outline on what we're planning to do:

    Saturday -
Non-stop flights from Newark. Flight will arrive around noon and then we'll take a cab to Mandalay Bay for check in. We got a package special in the mail so we're staying there for two nights. First night was $189 (casino rate) and the second night was free plus they're giving us two tickets to the Holyfield fight. We had a free room at Harrah's but since the hubby is a big boxing fan, I canceled the reservations there. We'll check in and pick up our boxing tickets and then gamble for a bit. I think the match starts at 4:00 and I am not sure how long it will last but we also have two tickets to the Andre Agassi Grand Slam fundraiser at MGM Grand, which is supposed to start around 8:30.

    Sunday -
If the weather is nice, I'd like to soak in some sunshine and have a few poolside cocktails. We are considering a comedy club that evening and some gambling. Even though we have the room until Monday, we'll check out after dinner and check into the Venetian. (We have two free nights there and we're only in Vegas for three nights so we have rooms in both places for Sunday night since each offer stipulated that they needed to be booked for two nights)

    Monday -
The Venetian offer included a $50 dining credit so I made a lunch reservation for Delmonico's Steakhouse. I've eaten at a few Emeril's restaurants in New Orleans and at the one in Orlando and I've always enjoyed them so I decided that was the best way to use the $50 credit. Since Monday is our last night in Vegas, I didn't make arrangements to see any shows. I just want to drink, gamble and have fun. I hope it works out!

    Tuesday -
Heading back to NJ on an early morning flight.
    Back to reality...

    Sweet...
We leave on Thursday! Woo Hoo....direct flight from Vancouver BC we get in about 8 pm. Then cab to Luxor...check in and probably do some gambling at Luxor and Mandalay Bay

Friday I hope the weather is decent as it would be nice to start the day off by the pool for a few hours....Then make our way down to Treasure Island and make our way back on that side of the strip, stopping for the lunch buffett at Belagio.
Then relax for a bit back at Luxor and then we catch the 7:30 Zumanity show...then we hit the clubs!

Saturday same thing would love to start the day off by the pool. Then do the other part of the strip, stopping for lunch at Mon Ami Gabi and then go to Rio to see the Carnival in The sky. I hope then to enjoy the spa for a bit back at the hotel, relax, gamble and then again hit the clubs.

Sunday we are going to check out the outlet mall not far from downtown thanks to information I found out here...and then I hope to lay by the pool some more...then get ready for a nice dinner out probably at Olives or Circo and then catch the 10:30 mystere show.

Monday our flight leaves at about 2:30pm....

and as you say...back to reality!

    I can not wait!

I understand why you are so stoked; we go every 6-8 weeks and I get jacked up each and every time. Have a great, great trip.

    We're T-9.

Sounds great but why didn't you stay another night so you could be at the Venetian 2 nights or is it a Sunday deal?

Oh and another question, lol. What kind of airfare did you get out of Newark direct flight?

    Kathy,
I paid $265 per ticket on Continental. I booked the flights back in January/February for a trip scheduled for May but I broke my foot in mid-April so I had to postpone it. That was around the same time the airlines were relaxing their rebooking rules and penalties so they allowed me to postpone the trip and rebook without a penalty. I did have to pay the fare difference, which was $10 per ticket (originally the tickets were $255). Lately, I haven't seen anything less than $290 per ticket. If you participate in Amex membership rewards, for 6,000 points you can get a $99 companion certificate. The recenly changed that a bit. Now, the original ticket needs to be $398 to use the certificate but if airfare continues to climb, buying one ticket for $400 and the second for $100 averages out to be a decent fare.

    LV Dawn-
Sounds great! And it sounds like you really "earned" this trip!

We had dinner at Delmonico's a few weeks ago - it was great! The Caesar salad was truly delicious! How can they make a salad taste so good?! So you can imagine how good the rest of the meal was! [IMG]

have a great time and hope the gambling gods are good to you! [IMG]

I'm getting so excited I can barely contain myself. I can't work or focus on anything at this point. It's so bad!!! I can't even imagine how I'll get through tomorrow.
