I'm going to Las Vegas in a few weeks. I haven't stayed at the Flamingo in about 15 years. I'm also going with my brother in law for the first time. I got a pretty good deal on the room which is why I picked this hotel.
He read on Trip Advisor that the rooms are dumps in desperate need of renovation. When I booked the room, the person I spoke to was very nice and helpful. She told me that most of the rooms have been updated, although, not the bathrooms. We're staying in a non smoking Fab Deluxe.

Any input from recent guests there would be quite helpful.

    Thank you..

There are tons of posts about the Flamingo rooms on these boards. The rooms are usually "Go" room the best, then "Fab" rooms then studio ( from what Ive read). I would advise that you also read dBuellers trip report. The probalem is not so much the rooms but the levators and room keys.

Up till 3 nights ago I was staying in a "Go" room for 5 days comped 4/29-5/4. After reading about 30 min waits for the elevators, room keys that never worked etc etc... I switched to Ballys (Jubillee). ( I stll havent firgured out how to change my countdown timer)

    Good Luck!!!

Stayed there a few weeks ago, plain old ROTH room on a lower floor in the Habitat area. No view, no special amenities, but it was clean, comfortable spacious, and everything worked. Waited less than a minute for the elevator all times I can remember this last trip. It was very much a Hampton/Holiday type of room.

I doubt that any of the rooms in strip hotels are "dumps," quite frankly.

    Will give them a try!

I stayed there in December on the 28th floor in a Fab room for 9 nights and there was only ONE day that there was an issue with the elevators having an issue, other than this, they were always there in a timely matter. The room was clean and not a dump....no funky smells or smells of cigarette smoke. The hallway carpet is a tad rumpled but not a big deal

I've heard that some of the rooms at the Excalibur are getting very seedy.

    +1 Thank you.

People like to come in here and throw shade at "other" properties that's not "their" list. I have stayed at many hotels over the years on the Strip since the late 70's, every hotel has good and bad points.......EVERY hotel.
Some hotels even have "classes" depending on the type of rooms you desire.
The Flamingo is a good example. The bottom of the barrel as far as standard rooms, according to many people in here is the Fab standard room, then you can upgrade to deluxe, High Roller, Strip view, etc., then the GO rooms, mountain view, Strip view etc. etc., then suites.

I will be staying at Flamingo in November, reason? I can stay there for 6 nights @ $2 per. I haven't stayed at Flamingo since the 90's. I have read all the reviews on Advisor and know what people say in here, stay away from Fab, you will be scarred for the rest of your life.
My room is booked for the plain old Fab room, i was thinking of "upgrading" to a GO room because they have fridges, but if i don't or can't, i will be more than happy to keep my dumpy disgusting deplorable room for $2.
As the Lone Ranger used to say........"to the dump, to the dump, to the dump dump dump"!!

P.S. Once you go down the elevator to the Casino, no one knows whether you're staying in a "Whale" room or a "Minnow" room.......unless of course you bring a hooker up, that's where having good negotiation skills can work in your favor........:wink2:

Thanks everyone for their input. I'm not so concerned about the elevators..
If anyone has anything else to add about the rooms I'd like to hear it.

Just returned from a 4-night stay @ 27th floor Habitat Tower FAB Room. Zero complaints; less than 30-second wait for elevators. No problems at all; will gladly go back.

This is one thing that was quite absent, or at least appeared to be, this last trip. No timeshare creeps that I remember at all at the Flamingo!
