Flamingo is definitely the better hotel and the better location. It just depends on how much difference there is in price.

I would bet you'd run into fewer children at Flamingo. Excal still has some attractions geared toward children. Also, Flamingo won't charge you a resort fee, Excal does - so be sure to take that into account if you are price comparing.

    A few questions for you:

    Where will you play?
Do you have comps at MGM or CET?
What shows will you be attending?
    Do you mind walking?
    Other activities planned?

    One room, two beds, etc?

Thanks for info, flamingo is actually 12.00 cheaper. I have stayed at Excalibur but want to try somewhere new that is reasonbly priced. The only thing is I have read a lot of reviews that say the flamingo is dirty & outdated.

Excalibur is currently one of the worst smelling casinos on the strip.
    It smells like rotten butt.
I don't recommend it to anyone . . . unless you're into that sort of thing.

I've never stayed at the Flamingo Hotel (or the Excal for that matter) but based strictly on smell alone, I would vote for the Flaming-O.

Also, depending on whether you're a driver or a walker mostly, Flamingo could be better for location reasons too. It's closer to more stuff.

And did I mention that the Sexcalibur smells like a butt? A really gross butt.

    FlamingO

Consider the source of the reviews. Some people complain about things that are not important to me. Like the carpets in the hall, for example. Not important as i always make it back into the room and never sleep in the hall on the carpet.
I have stayed at the FlaminO many (10-12?) times and the rooms inside are always clean and the service is always great. If the room is not to our liking, politely call the front desk and they will accomodate you. Once we were above the smoking floor and the room smelled of fresh smoke inside the bathroom. One call to the front desk and we were switched to a different floor immediately. The location is middle of the strip so you are right near Caesars, Bellagio, Paris, Planet Ho. They have redone many areas of the casino and have a food court and some new restaurants. There is no question where I would stay for 12.00 less (actually you are saving more $ with no resort fees!)

LMFAO. I used to walk from NYNY to Excalibur just to take the
Escalator to Luxor. I KNEW something really smelled funny.
I would choose Flamingos just for location if not more.

Flamingo Go room or Ex Widescreen room. They are both cool.

Yet I do not like either of their standard rooms.

I'd give flamingo a try since you have not tried it and it has an amazing location.

In March I kept waiting for my travel companion to say something about the hallway carpet - since people B**CH about it continually. She never even noticed it. Loved the room, loved the casino, loved the friendly people, loved the food. She NEVER ONCE noticed the hallway carpet. All depends on what your mind is set on.

IF you could get one of the nice rooms at Excal I would think twice about it. If you have already stayed down there, then this is a good chance to try something different. If you aren't booking a pet room you should at minimum be getting a FAB room at Flamingo. Bathrooms haven't been redone, but new beds, flooring & TVs. So probably better than a standard Excal room. You are center strip so a different change fo scenery from what you had before.

My vote in this situation is for Flamingo. Depending on occupancy you may be able to do the $20 trick & get an upgrade to a GO room. OR you may receive an e-mail offer about a week ahead of time for a per night fee upgrade. This would send you higher per night than Excal but you would have a nice room.

It's very easy to get out of the hotel from your room to the strip. Very nice employees.

I stayed at the Excalibur 2 years ago, upgraded with the $20 trick and still would not choose to stay there again. Found most of the hotel depressing and dirty.
Best part of the hotel was the pool, which is better at the Flamingo.

I have a standard room booked for the Flamingo in Sept, hope to get an upgrade to a Go room.
I have stayed at the Flamingo many times but not in many years (last year stayed at the Rio).

Two big pluses for the Flamingo are location and no resort fee.

    not doing it right..............

    hahahah....so true!

that being said just returned from 3 nights at the Flamingo (room 23-158)and had a clean, updated room with new mattress, several pillows to choose from and nice new flooring with updated decor. Photo on the website is accurate. It was nice to be able to run over to Tix4Tonight, grab tickets and be right across the street from Caesars where our show was. Lots of food options at FlamingO. Note if you are staying there M-F, maybe ask for a room away from the Linq construction on the N. side as they do start pile drilling at 6:33 am....not that I can ever sleep much from the excitement anyway...or expect quiet. The carnivale court was rocking (Vanilla Ice 8/4!)until 2-3 am-- as it should-- and some folks might hear that and be bothered by the noise... decent view of Caesar's, Mirage and Clock Tower at Venetian....very pretty at night. (p.s. yes the hall carpet was tired/worn out)

If you just want a new location with a decent price, consider Bally's. The rooms are clean and nice, not fancy but nice. The location is wonderful and it is connected to Paris for some of the better food options.

If I recall, Flamingo has "Euro-style" pools; meaning topless is allowed. By adults do you mean over 60? If 21-45 all men, go for it!

I stayed at Excalibur, less crowded, free drink re-fills, good buffet, good rooms, _much_ cheaper than Flamingo.
