Have not been to Vegas for 2 years. Have they remodeled any of the rooms in the Flamingo Hotel? I like a decent room that you don't have to walk so far. I like to be higher up but would also like a strip view. Probably asking alot. Any info would be great. If we would choose the Monte Carlo what room would be good with a view if possible.

    Thanks

I can't speak for Flamingo, the hotel is too moldy for me to comfortably stay in. I had to stop staying there several years ago.

Monte Carlo badly needs renovation and that is due to start soon. The Strip facing rooms also face the ongoing construction, which can be noisy, and the existing windows are older, single pane, which doesn't do as good as more modern double pane energy efficient windows. The hallway carpets are wrinkled and there is no WiFi. I bring my own router and set up a hotspot in my room. MC has several great restaurants and easy access to many more at NYNY and Aria.

In any strip facing hotel, the higher the better if you like to sleep.

I'm sure others will chime in with their opinions, and many do like Flamingo. I'm sensitive to excessive airborne molds and there and Bally's are off my list. Poor air quality in both for me.

If price is a factor, that should probably be noted.

Flamingo has Go rooms, but they are not what I would call recently renovated. You can request certain views, including the strip.

MC, I'd probably pass on that as I don't think they're the "shut the door and on the strip in 90 seconds" kind of hotel, although I think the monaco suites are generally by elevators.

It's a toss, honestly. Flamingo GO rooms WERE recently renovated (2011) & are quite nice. But the other rooms are "meh"--but I found MC rooms to be "meh" 18 years ago...and they haven't been renovated since. Both have nice pools. An advantage that Flamingo has is that it is a smaller property & it is a shorter walk from rooms/casino to the strip--so based that comment of yours, I would go with Flamingo.

Both hotels have pros and cons. They're both in a great location. I'd probably just go with the cheaper of the 2, if it were me.

If you can get a Go room from Flamingo I'd go with that. I stayed one night in a standard room at Monte Carlo last year and it was terrible. The Monte Carlo casino also bores the crap out of me.

I would choose Flamingo simply because it's closer to the Strip/Flamingo intersection and everything that happens around there.

As far as walking to the room, at Flamingo it can be just a few steps or quite a walk depending on where you are. I've had rooms that were a few steps from the main elevator and also rooms that were waaaaayyyy down by the Habitat and quite a walk from the far elevators.
