We have a room booked at the Flamingo in July and I was wondering if there are any reviews on the recent updates to the FAB rooms. I did a search and didn't find much posted. We haven't stayed at the Flamingo for many years and at that time the rooms were hit or miss. The furniture was worn and the carpet was usually dirty. One time our shower wouldn't work. It was usually an adventure at the Flamingo. Since then we have mainly stayed at Mirage or MGM. I don't expect the Flamingo to compare to those places, but just wanted to have a feel for what we were getting. We decided on the Flamingo because of the location, the pool, and having friends staying there as well. Of course, the cheap rates were also a huge incentive.

Last time we were there they were starting to convert the pool to a Baywatch Pool. (not sure how many years ago that was!!) I haven't been there since and was wondering if the pool was still as expansive and lush as it was in the old days. I usually spend time there first thing in the morning so the party crowd hasn't started to arrive yet and the pool area is pretty quiet and relaxing.

    Any info would be great.

I just got back from a 4 night stay at the Flamingo. I'm afraid I can't comment on the FAB rooms as I was upgraded to a GO room which I was happy with and we had no issues at all with our room. I have read on other forums that the FAB rooms are hit and miss. I think the higher up you go, the better the rooms seem to be.
Like you, we really enjoy the pool there. They have new lounge chairs which was long overdue. We also like being there in the morning before it gets busier and crazier in the afternoon. You want to be there for 9am when it opens otherwise your choices of where you want to sit are limited. A bucket of beer (5) for 25.00 and Bloody Mary's for 5.00 before 11am.

I think they had a slight cosmetic upgrade maybe 5 or 6 years ago (like new bedspreads..). But no remodel to the bathroom, still ugly old furniture. Here's some photos.

I would NOT stay in a FAB room personally, even for free. A GO room maybe, only if it was cheap. That property has really gone down hill, it's old, and showing it's age would be the best way to describe it. See if you can upgrade to a GO room. Those were totally remodeled and are pretty decent.

    Wow, that's a hard review!

The pool is amongst the best pools on the strip - not including day club pools.

The rooms are descent. The FAB is an average room - better than many MGM low class rooms and better than Harrah's and The Quad's - and probably Paris's basic room.

The Go rooms are great. They are not the best room available on the strip - but nice, clean and generally reasonably priced.

My wife preferred Mirage High floor room over the Fab room at the Flamingo.

For me and my brother the Flamingo is a great choice to not have to spend unnecessary money on a room, but to also feel like we didn't pick the cheapest pile of crap around.

I am going again and have a Go Room booked.

We had friends staying in a high roller view fab room in April and it was actually really nice. The furniture was all in good shape and the view was amazing. The bathroom has not been remodelled but it was clean, just not fancy.

I have seen it described & I will describe also the Fab as 80's Holiday Inn. I survived a lot of those so not really a big deal. My house bathroom is from the 80's too lol! I do prefer a walk-in shower though as I had a slight issue hooking my leg climing in & falling in tub - so I will upgrade to Go or stay at Paris or Ballys Jubilee with stand-alone shower.

Just be careful with the rugs on the faux wood floors. They can be very slippery.

I'm slightly against the grain here; I've had FAB rooms several times, including booking three for family when we went last summer. Each time, the rooms are fine. Nothing to write home about, but clean and comfortable. I think since 2009, I've booked out 7 rooms, and none of them had an issue that impacted my stay. Perfect? No, but cost-value was fine for me, plus clean.

Also watch yourself if you just stepped out of the shower and your feet are wet. Those floors are like a law suit just waiting to happen.

We just got back from a stay in a FAB room and have absolutely no complaints in regard to the room - lots of other complaints such as being put in a room directly on top of the construction noise at the Cromwell and being on a pet floor after I had specifically requested a room not in either location. We had two rooms and there was absolutely nothing wrong with either of them. The beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in - even more so than the $2000 mattress set I just purchased for home! We had a polka-dotted chair in our room which was comfy too. I liked the faux wood floors - much cleaner than carpet in any hotel room regardless of whether it is a 2 star or a 5 star! As for the bathroom - no it hasn't be refurbished in a number of years but personally I don't go to Vegas to sit in the bathroom so I really don't understand the mentality of people complaining that the bathroom is old!!!! As long as it is clean and functioning what the heck is the problem with a bathroom being old? LOL - I just don't get it. And then there are the hallway carpets that I have read many complaints about - the carpet in our hallway was just as good as the carpet in Mirage or any other resort we went in - 16th floor by spa elevators. I'm not sure what you mean by a Baywatch Pool but it was a beautiful pool.

Just stayed there and would not stay in a FAB room. Between and a GO room is like night and day.

Also watch out for rooms with strip view but have the Donny and Marie sign scraped off the window making the view shit. I had to change rooms.

I was in a Go room a little more than a year ago and was very pleasantly surprised. Very clean and modern. As someone else said, for the money it was well worth it. The hallway where I was wasn't in the best shape but I don't sleep in the hallway so I didn't give it much thought and if I do find myself sleeping in the hallway I have bigger things to worry about than some stains on the carpet.

I have always stayed in a Go luxury room with strip view and have never had a problem. Asked for a south strip view and always had a great view on the 26 floor...no Donny and Marie covering. I agree with mrem3200...I don't sleep in the hall's and I am not expecting a 5 star room for a 3 star price.
