    My Trip Report

We left from Chicago on a Sun thru Thurs trip, 7 of us. Me, hubby, 2 sons, one sons girlfriend, my brother, and a family friend. We had a broad representation of ages. Smooth flight, and the attendant on SW mistakenly gave my brother and I a bloody Mary instead of just spicy tomato juice. Way to start the trip!LOL. We arrive at LAS and my brother and I grab a cab while my husband and all the youngsters get our car from Dollar. We got a great deal on a Suburban for less than the cost of a van. My brother tells the cabby to take the short cut, and he does just that. Fare was $14.50 and we tip him 8 dollars. He didn't say a word to us the whole trip, but got us there in record time. We check in, me in the Platinum holder room, brother in the reg line, about 40 in front of him. I get a water and cookie on checkin, and an upgrade offer to a GO room for 30 bucks, and I take it. No $20 trick, and I get a room with a Caesars view of the strip. The room is fine. I go out and my brother is still in line. I go to Rewards to get cards, and the guy tells me my brother can use the Platinum room, too, as long as he has a card, even though he has not spent required 750 bucks. So he jumps the line and goes into the platinum room. He is checked in within a couple of minutes, no lines. In the mean time, I get a text from my son. There are no Suburbans available. We can wait in line for one to come in, but there are 4 other people in front of us waiting for Suburbans. What a bait and switch. We end up with a "church van (12 passenger)", one of the more than 6'8" high jobs with 4 rows of seats. Only problem, they won't fit in most parking garages. We have to park in employee parking a block from the casino. Sigh. We have had this same vehicle in the past. They accommodate a big group, but are hard to get in and out of, hard to park, they ride terrible and the air is horrible. This one was also dirty and smelly. I did call daily but was told there were no suburbans available every time. Not a lot of good to say for Dollar rental
We go golf at Revere Golf Club; great time. Only 104 degrees, a really nice day for LV. We head back to our hotel and do some gambling. First go by Walmart and Winchells to eat.. Drop off youngsters at Monte Carlo while we check in the 3rd room. The standard rooms are not bad, but as said the bathrooms never got remodeled. Laminate wood look floors, worn furniture, but they had good views of the ferris wheel. Very noisey this trip, gymnastics, basketball camps, large convention going on. No one wins anything at the Flamingo tonight. I head up early, and the kids come up to get their room keys after an early night. We are all in bed by 10 since we have been up since 4 am. We don't do late nights anymore.
Next day we go to Mesquite to golf at Wolf Creek. If you are a golfer and can get there, don't miss it. The scenery is breathtaking. We get Hot times on line for reduced rates $65 and all courses are very reasonable. Temp 106 today. A fun day of golf with lots of laughs. We head back and park the van at the hotel, and go to the Mirage to eat at BLT. Love this place! Everything was delicious. We had burgers, shakes, salad, and turkey burgers. Everyone said it was delicious. We gambled a while and got our butts kicked; played slots and video poker. Very crowded and busy here. I LOVE the Mirage. We usually stay where we can get free rooms, so we ended up at Flamingo this time. Mirage has my husband and I on the same account for points, so we only get 1 room. We usually have a big group and need additional rooms. This time everyone wanted to stay at the same place.
We are back to our hotel, gamble at Flamingo awhile, and everyone loses again. Tried Flaming 7's, several new machines. Back in bed by 10 again.
Tues. we are up by 6. We head down for coffee, then my husband and I go to Reel Fishing game; the one where you have 3 CATCH THE BIG ONE then you fish for a progressive fish by size. I got to play the first spin, and got to fish for 3 small progressives, my husband got it at the same time, and got a progressive for a few hundred, catching the 3rd biggest fish. Finally a win! We walk thru the casino on the way to the room, and spot a Big Bang machine. My husband and brother had played it the night before, and said it was fun. I sit down and max bet, and hit the multiple free spins over and over, and walk away with almost $800. Yay! We are feeling better about the Flamingo by now. We leave after breakfast at Hash House a GO GO. This is right next door to Flamingo in the Quad, and it is SO GOOD. Really different food, but we like it. After we eat, I put money in a Candy Bar machine. I win a small progressive, the middle of 3, for around $40. I play a little longer, and hit the jackpot; 3 progressive bars. I got a small hand pay of $1450; What a day! We head out and go to Primm to golf today. Temp 107. We have water with us. This is a beautiful place, but no frills, and that includes no water jugs. They claim they will give you water when you return to the clubhouse, but they want you to go in and buy it. Needless to say, make sure you bring a case with you. Another great day of golf with plenty of laughs. We head back to LV and stop at THE M, another of our very fave places. I head to the high stakes room to play poker. There are a couple of progressives on $2 poker. I start playing with a hundred, and around $50 left I hit 3 aces and 2 deuces for $1600. Another hand pay!! This was the end of my luck, but what a couple of days!
We play here awhile, eat at the buffet, walk right in and the food is better than I have had here in a long time. Everyone agrees; we especially love their turkey. We gamble some more, then have a couple of drinks, me buying. Then we head to the Flamingo. By now it is getting late (for us) and we head to bed around 11.
We get up on Wed. and eat at the Flamingo buffet. We ate here the first day, too. I thought it was just fine. We get to use the Platinum line so walk right in, and get seated front and center to the birds. Very nice. The food was just fine; nothing to rave about but not bad, either. The service was excellent. Everyone agreed the food here was just fine. We head out to Primm again. My son and his girlfriend hit the pool while we golf. Another fun day, although everyone is getting more tired. The heat is felt today; 112. We pile in the van and head back to THE M to make sports bets. We have snacks at the bar, then head over to Monte Carlo to meet my son and his girlfriend. We eat at a bar and the food is great. Afterwards we gamble a bit, and lose. The place is super crowded; people are checking in all over LV and the Californians are driving in too. Gearing up for the weekend. We head back to our place, and everyone says goodnight.
Last day we eat at Hash House again. Food is excellent. MUCH busier. We packed our stuff and let everyone sleep, so we got a much later start today. We gamble at the Quad again; love this place. Clean, new, airy, smells SO GOOD. No one is here. People are friendly. We play Haunted House and it kicks
our butt. Also played for some progressives with no luck. I would suggest you gamble here instead of Flamingo. Great vibe, and I just loved it. Trip home was uneventful. We were pretty organized for the size of our group. Everyone got to do their own thing, and letting the youngsters do their own thing was a nice break for everyone. We were together ALOT. Smashed together in the church van, then golf carts. So we enjoyed spreading out once in a while. They all found their way back to us for dinner though; because I won a little I happily paid for a lot of meals. LOL.
We will be back in the fall....I would like to stay 5 nights instead of 4.

The best course is Wolf Creek in Mesquite. It is SO COOL. If you can rent a car or shuttle there, it is worth it.

Thanks for the great report!!! I have never had a problem with Flamingo buffet either - have eaten there numerous times for all meal types. But it sure gets trashed a lot! My bff actually prefers it to Paris & PH. Says it's her favorite as it's comfortable, has a great view and still has plenty of food choices for her.

Thanks for the report!! Great that you could spend your vacation in Vegas with your family!! I was at the Flamingo over 4th of July weekend, and I found the place to be way too crowded and very busy. Couldn't even find a lounge chair by the pool at 10;00am. LOL Thank god I am also a Platinum member with Total Rewards, because every time I looked up, the lines at the regular check in area was insane!!! And congrats on the super winnings on the machines!!!:drunk:

have almost quit doing any replies, since the makeover it takes forever to try to get to typing to make a reply. so i have been told by the mods that i have not posted in a while...no shit sherlocks.

i notice that this post only has 4 replies, while any of the other recent posts have many more replies. this post has a lot of fun info, but it is really hard to read. this might be pot calling the kettle black, considering the lack of capitalization that i post with, but maybe a few paragraphs indents and breaks would make the original post more readable and replyable to.
