Ok so I used to only play blackjack and roulette, and rarely touched slots. After reading this forum in between my last trip and the one I just got back from, I decided I wanted to play some Video Poker and Slots!!! My first night, I sat solo waiting for my friends to land and get to the hotel, and played Video Poker at the casino bar. I put in a $20 and got 3 drinks and sat there going up and down, it was a fun way to kill time and get drinks quick since you don't have to wait for a cocktail waitress to roll around, the bartender is right there.

I decided to experiement with some slots this trip too, I hit a nice bonus at PH on some duck slot, where the lights went back and forth and you had to hit "STOP", it kept going up levels until I got to the top level and hit the 2nd highest prize, ended up being like $100.

I was also randomly putting in a $20 and doing $5 a spin, and would hit on my first or second spin, and cash out almost $40-60 up.

Ok, so on to the last day, we have 30 minutes to kill before grabbing a taxi to the airport to leave, and we decide to head down to the Flamingo casino (where we stayed) to play one last round of slots. We liked the Willy Wonka slot we played a day before, and were heading towards that. A bank of big bright and loud Wizard of Oz slots got us distracted and we sit down. Before I can even put my money in the slot, my girlfriends machine starts going crazy making noise flashing BIG WIN BIG WIN! hits for $1600 on her first spin!!!!! Hang around for a celebratory Coors Light, cash out, and head to McCarren!!!!

Yup it was the Wizard of Oz slots, there were 4 of them, 2 of them were the good witch, and 2 of them were the evil witch. She hit on the good witch, she came out and said "How about a little maaaagiiiccc???" and then all of the "EMERALD CITY" logos kept lining up!

One spin, one win.=). I have gotten big wins on the first spin before, but not that often. It usually it takes a few spins before I start getting bonuses or big wins. It is all about being at the right place at the right time. Congrats! =)

So what do you enjoy playing more now, BlackEight88?

I used to play the tables, but eventually found it not too much fun. It was a lot of thinking, and if I made a $10 bet on blackjack, most I could really win was $15. It felt like work more than entertainment, lol! (no disrespect to our table loving gamblers!)
What I did enjoy as it turned out was the actual volatility of the slots....no thinking, and you can bet $1 and win $1000.....makes every spin entertaining.

Curious if the big win has given you the slot bug??

I'm not a big slots player but I'll play a little when hanging with the wife. My biggest win was a few years ago. It was our second day and I was down more than I should have been for only the second day. We headed over to the Wynn for dinner at the Italian place there. I was in a crappy mood and sat next to my wife while she played at one of the triple eagle slots (can't remember the official name), she had me put in 40 dollars at my machine and I was just half heartedly playing so I didn't drop the money too fast. At one point the repeat bet button stopped working and I just got pissed and started hitting all the buttons trying to get the machine to respond, my wife had to interrupt me to tell me I had won $1300. My mood improved considerably after that. :)

That's the kind of thing that needs to happen to me on my first night. My big wins are always the day before heading home.

Same here, day before going home is usually my most notable wins. First day is some of the worst losses.

    Nice hit justo!

I actually REALLY enjoy that duck game, I played it a few trips ago. I'm staying at PH in two weeks, I'm sure I'll give it a go at least once during my stay

I honestly think i'd prefer the big hit right before heading home. That way you don't blow it and actually come home with guaranteed Vegas money. If I hit a big score on the first day i'd probably just gamble more and knowing me higher.
