Back home late last night after nearly 4 days in Vegas. This is my first attempt at a trip report so bear with me. I have Day 1 done and will work on completing it over the weekend. Day 1: The anticipation of going to Vegas kept me from sleeping too well, and having to get up at 5AM to head for Denver for our flight made for a very long first day in Vegas. The security line at DIA was the longest I’ve ever seen there when I’ve flown from there. By the time we got through security we JUST made it to the gate before boarding started (TOO DAMN CLOSE for me). The flight was good and the landing in Vegas much better than when I was there in October. Had a small argument with the rental agent at Budget about purchasing insurance. Ended up in a full size I had booked at a decent rate the beginning of May but apparently my coupon code for one class upgrade was a no go. Being my first time renting a car in Vegas I made several wrong turns and ended up somewhat lost (a little nerve racking). When I checked in on a comped room courtesy of MyVegas game I had problems with my credit card ( this is not starting out good). After a call to my credit card company and Budget rentals I discovered they charged me an extra fee I WAS NOT anticipating. Got that mess straightened out and get in our room. Nice room it was the basic queen resort room. I didn’t even try the 20 dollar trick for a number of reasons. My wife and I were both starving so it was time to head off and use my Bellagio buffet pass (courtesy of MyVegas). Yea that didn’t work out so well as by the time we got in line they were not taking lunch guests anymore. So it was off to Margaritaville and their Volcano Nachos. I have been to Margaritaville before and think they have great food. The nachos were more than 2 of us could eat but we definitely didn’t leave hungry. Off to walk that calorie laden meal off. Walked through several of the casinos that wife and I had not been in before, plus was nice to just people watch(another of my favorite hobbies). Picked up my Red Card at the Wynn with 10 dollars free play and cashed out with 15 dollars ( Not huge but 15 more than I had before). Not much gambling on the first day, played a few slots at the Mirage nothing exciting and played craps at The Quad. There are some major renovations to that Casino and was a nice face lift for it. I didn’t fair so well here left down 55 bucks from my original buy in. Mostly just spent time walking with the Mrs after leaving the Quad. We watched fountains at Bellagio and Volcano at Mirage, I don’t ever get tired of either of these free attractions. Called it a day midnight local time (2AM) at home being up for 21 Hours was almost too much. Stay tuned for Day 2 Report and my first real day of gambling.
