    My Trip Report

I didn't do a very good job keeping my live for so I figured I would just post a separate summary. I will post in days and attempt to finish tomorrow.

    Thursday Sept 18

Up at the ass crack of dawn to catch my flight to Houston, I kissed the wife and kids and headed out the door. I was headed to VEGAS!!! I was supposed to meet my dad in Houston to catch up a few hours at his house and head back to the airport for us to fly to Vegas, but he was detained with work and unable to join us until Friday evening. I attempted to get on the earlier United flight but was the first stand-by passenger left behind. No worries, this allowed me to start researching my sports bets for the weekend. I settled on a tease of Auburn and Atlanta. I normally hate betting chalk but I loved Atlanta at home and refuse to bet against Gus Mahlzhan. Fortunately, AU covered the tease and ATL covered easily.

Original flight took off and landed on time and I was soon in Vegas. We landed in the new terminal however it was my first time and accidentally took the tram to baggage claim and could not find my limo driver. After a quick call to my host I was able to figure out what happened and met up with my driver to take me to the Cosmopolitan. I walked into what I thought was the VIP check-in only to quickly learn that it was now where they checked in Marriott members. I wondered why they didn't offer me a drink. As you can tell, it's been a while since I've been to Vegas. Checked in easily and was up checking out my room in no time. After staying in my room 2.4 seconds I decided it was time to start gambling:nono: i've always heard about gambling when you first get to Vegas and how it never brings any good luck but I have never believed in it. I do now. I lost 3K betting 200 a hand in 10 to 15 minutes of play. An inauspicious start to say the least. I decided since it had been a while, I needed to go check out Linq and the Highroller. Very impressed with the retail area there. Those are actually places I would shop at, instead of the ultra high-end places at Crystals etc... Had a beer at the Yardhouse and decided it was time to make my money back and headed back to the Cosmopolitan around 5.

Took a shower to wash the stink of losing all of my body and headed back down to the high limit room. Here's where things got a little interesting. I sat down to play at the double-deck game and things immediately got better. Slowly but surely making my money back and having an interesting conversation with the guy to my left. After chitchatting quite a bit I come to find out his name is George and he lives here in Vegas and gambles almost every night. Eventually I ask him how he affords to do this so he told me how he made his money back east. In one word: PORN. It turns out he owned a small video rental place back east and was barely turning a profit until he was talked into opening up a bigger adult section. One thing leads to another: video rentals turn into DVD's, DVD's turn into toys... You get the idea. Vegas baby, Vegas. Apparently the real money is in gay porn. Who knew? Anyways, the guy is a real character but would get ridiculously upset when he lost. We decided take a break and grab something to eat. I figured we were going to head up to Holsteins or grab a slice of pizza but George just had them deliver it to the regular high limit room. I knew that option was available at the Talon Room but not downstairs. I wolfed down a burger and fries got back on the saddle. Things starting to turn poorly, quickly. George lost 6500 in a shoe and stormed off. I quickly followed after losing my profit but paying back my marker. The only memborable hand was $400 2 handed, dealt 8;2 and 6;4 against a 9. Double both hands and pulled an Ace for a 21 and a Jack for a 20. all she had to do was pull over at 10 and it was a $1600 win. Alas, she had the dreaded deuce underneath... Gave me hope with a 6, then punched me in the gut with the 5. All in all I was even on my first day in Vegas and looking forward to more!!!
