Just called MLife (again) to verify. My Tier Point will indeed expire on 9/30/16. They stated everyone's does. I then asked about the Extended Expiration for Points and Express Comps (showing under the Benefits for Pearl) and was told the points showing are what I have earned for play, but are totally different from my Tier Credits. I just returned from a junket at Beau Rivage last month, and was able to play (and win) enough to get me within the 1,500 points from Gold.

The Rep said I have 3 comp nights (including weekends) at Mirage that I can use until November with $100 FP, so I think I will move my trip up a week. I liked the idea of being in Vegas for my birthday, but we have so many local casinos with hotels (Ameristar, Hollywood, River City, etc) here in Missouri, I can spend it at one of these. So now, I will see if I can get Cosmopolitan to match. Wynn sent me a letter for 3 comp nights, but the 3 nights are not available the last weekend in September. Bummer because they are offering the 3 nights Sun-Thu and $300 in Free Credit and 2 comp passes to The Buffet. It's always something....lol Oh how I wish I could squeeze a mini trip in before my birthday to take advantage of this offer.

Again, thanks for all your help!

I would not get your hopes up on the free upgrades to suites. Even as a Platinum, I have never gotten a free upgrade to a suite, when not already booked in a suite. I assume there are many factors that could give you the lucky upgrade...property, day of week, time of year, time of day, etc.

I'm making an extra trip this summer for the very same reason. I'm about the same number of points from gold you are. Our trip was already booked for Oct 29 so I scheduled one for me on June 6th just to make gold.

If the rates are a lot more expensive, I definitely agree with Kolmeseiska on sticking with Pearl. Your comps are not based on tier status, it only affects "perks" like line passes, etc. (Someone at Gold who plays heavily at one or two hotels can get way better comps than platinum who flits around.)

I was really bummed to be about 3k under platinum on my last trip. BUT even at platinum, you basically just get the bonus of the taxi line cut, pool/cabana priority (not free, just priority) and spa priority. I was actually really glad I didn't spend more just to get platinum, since it didn't affect comps. Jumping from Pearl to gold wouldn't be worth it to me to spend way more and rearrange my trip, but that's for me personally. (I'm pretty low maintenance, no cabanas, no spas, etc.)

BUT the question would be room upgrades. I've been lucky on getting nice comped rooms, so have never used the room upgrade, despite being gold. I am not sure how often they hand out better rooms, versus better VIEW rooms. If they bump you up to suites, it might be worth it. If they just give you a slightly better view, maybe not. Again though, I am not familiary with the success rate of the room upgrade part...this would be the only reason to try to bump up to gold in my book. (If it's going to cost you a lot more to do it.)

Oh, and the comment on parking is good too if you use valet! Also, I THINK read they downgraded Pearl to 6 months, versus 12 like gold, but my memory could be wrong...

I hope you have a great birthday whatever you decide!

Thank you for all the great info. I have decided to move my trip up a week so I will be there to make Gold. Also, the offer Mirage gave me is pretty good. I might also think about staying at Cosmo a couple of nights if I can get Kevin to match my Mirage offer. It's worth a try. :D

    Gold also gets you:

Black Label at Borgata Atlantic City
    Platinum with Hyatt
Royal Caribbean Cruise Benefits (5 drink coupons and some other stuff, I will see what I get in August)
