    My Trip Report

Hello all. Family of 4 . My wife and I mid thirties and 2 kids boy age 16 and girl age 6. We had to take them bc frankly no one wanted to watch them. Can't really blame them.
Stayed 3 nights at the castle and 2 nights with the mermaids at the Silverton.

Flight- Sunday evening Frontier from O' Hare to Las Vegas duh. Flight was early. Attendants were great but man those seats are rough. Get what u pay for I guess. Flight back Friday morning arrived early also. Well done Frontier. Don't hear that to often do u.

Transportation- Used lyft all week with 50 dollars in promo credits which took 5 dollars off each ride. Almost every ride was decent although the first guy looked like he was in the mob. Man how far they have fallen. It sure beat riding the bus or the monorail in my opinion. Most didn't speak much English thankfully somehow my wife could translate for me.

Hotel-Excalibur- 2 of 3 nights comped due to Myvegas. 22nd floor.Nice view. Room was clean. Check in must have took 45 minutes though. Just brutal especially when the kids are tired. I felt like a bad parent which isn't far from the truth. I was there when the sportsbook had a water leak above it but missed it. So sad.
Silverton - 2 nights. Check in was a breeze. Much nicer to be off strip quite frankly. Pool was cold as ice like me when shooting craps. They call me seven out.

Gambling- not much with the kids with us. I did bubble craps for the first time at the Silverton. 1 dollar minimum which was nice. Made like 50 one night but lost it next morning. The real table was always jam packed and I am not one to squeeze my way in. To nice I guess. Bet every game Thursday for March Madness. Lost 30 dollars. Not much of an atmosphere at the Silverton Casino. They don't take NHL bets. Not sure why.

entertainment- Took kids to the dolphins at Mirage.Very cool and got in for 4 of us at 22 dollars. Thanks my vegas. Also went to the Mac King Show. He is the freakin man. Awesome show. Went to the cake boss deal in the Venetian. I could have cared of less for his junk but family liked the desserts. Went to Shark Reef. Cool but short. I would skip it if a first timer. Not worth the money. Only went downtown so the boy could do the zipline. Mermaids entertained the little one at the Silverton and me. She was hot. I would date her if I wasn't married.Ha

Food- A lot of food courts. Palms buffet with 50 percent off. Thanks Anthony Curtis. That was good. Silverton buffet was so so. 100 points gets u a free one there if you are a new member.

All in all good weather and and a good trip. The young one hit a wall typically mid afternoon and all she wanted to do was swim. She called the fountains at Bellagio lame which I found funny. It is tough to take the kids. Not going to lie. I thought it would be easier but they tire out with so much walking at times and the little one but have been happy just being at the pool all day. I just hope they enjoyed their time and look back at it fondly. Next time hopefully I find a babysitter. Those that take your kids out to Las Vegas. Just have as much patience as possible. Also I am a runner and getting out and running the strip in the morning is fun. U see everybody from the passed out drunks to business men going to conferences. Saw Capt America and he told me to go for the gold. I will captain. Thank U.

Glad you guys had a good trip. Would the dolphins be worth it to you without kids?

Very nice report. We are taking the kids to the Grand Canyon this summer with a 2 day stop in Las Vegas. Thinking about staying at the castle, but never stayed there. Our kids love the pool too. Is the pool good for kids? Thanks!

My kids love Vegas. They would kill me if I went without them and I actually love it when they come with. We do a lot of kids quest it gets expensive but it's worth it

Yeah I think the dolphins are worth it even if there are no kids. Especially if the weather is nice. I think they do a good job with the dolphin show. Kept the wife happy also.

Yeah the pool is nice but very busy even in Mid March. Part of it was closed off for who knows what. U see it all though at the castle. From families of little kids to college kids having a good time. They do have an adult pool so regular pool is fairly tame.

Nice TR! Thanks for posting. Lots of people criticize why people bring kids to Vegas. Yours is a good example. Nobody could watch them.

Bringing your children to Vegas is doable, as long as (like in your case) the needs of the children is foremost. Sure some sacrifices has to be made (like one poster who took turns with his wife to watch the kids while the other gambles) or planning daytime activities that the kids can participate in.

I brought my family one time and we stayed at Excaliber too. We had a blast!!
