I have decided to add Flamingo to my itinerary in August. So RIO in May, Flamingo in August, and Bally's in Nov. for 2013. All my rooms are comped. My question is, since i've never stayed at Flamingo, i have a comped room which is Fab Luxury Strip View. That seems fine to me, but is the GO Strip View worth the upgrade? I know many people upgrade from Fab to GO, but in my case i'm getting the Fab Luxury Strip View already. What exactly is the difference between the 2 Strip views?

4 years ago I would have said without question take the Go room. Now its only slightly better. Truth is the Go rooms with view have the best views at the Flamingo since they are on higher floors. Baths are upgraded too, with built in TV in the mirror.

During the Fab room renovations they did not renovate the bathrooms. However the bed linens, flooring, and room finishing is better in the Fab room (For now) time will tell how well they hold up.

Thanks. Do you by any chance know what floor is the highest for Fab? My room is comped, but will they allow me to switch to GO Strip view with a $20 sandwich? Or maybe just ask for a high floor with what i got and call it a day.

I can book a Fab Room for 10 dollars for 5 nights. I can book a Fab Luxury Strip view for 30 dollars. Which one should I book and then try to get upgrade after that?

If i were you i would take the $10 per night and then request a Fab Lux Strip with the $20 tip. For $10 per night plus a $20 tip you should do well. Let's say you get the Fab Luxury Strip view for $150, then upgrade with $20, that's $170 + tax and resort fees. Compare that to $50 + $20 + tax and resort fees. Of course it's all subjective, $30 a night 'aint too shabby in it's self.

Sorry, that 10 dollars is not per night. Actually for the whole trip. And 30 for whole trip for the Luxury Strip View. So I guess If I did the regular room for 10 and tipped the 20 dollars I would be at 30 anyway.

I guess the best question. Is if I get regular room would they upgrade more than a FAB luxury Strip view? Or Maybe just go ahead and get the Strip view for 30 dollars and hope for an upgrade to the GO Room?

The only difference between a Fab deluxe and a Fab luxury room is the view. You get a strip view with the luxury room, with the deluxe room you don't. Otherwise the room is identical.

For August when it's not peak season in Vegas, I'd probably gamble on the cheaper room with hopes of getting an upgrade to a GO room. Spending $2/night versus $6/night probably isn't going to sway the clerk one way or the other.

I was looking at some videos on some rooms on youtube. The strip view doesnt look all that great when you are fairly low. Pretty much can just see the roof. It seems the garden view isnt too bad. Only question would be. How is the walks from both? And am I correct in the assessment of those two views?

I checked out some some videos of the GO rooms with view also. From what i have seen, the higher up (floors between 15-25+) and south facing Strip views seem like a winner. You bypass some of the views that look head on at Caesars because of the Donny & Marie monstrosity that partially block the widows. I will definitely try the sandwich to upgrade to a GO room. And like Andy said, August is off season, so upgrading may be a lot easier than say, May or Sept./Oct.

I was wondering why some of those videos the windows looked really dark. Forget about that sign. I wonder what would be better. A low floor strip view or a garden view high floor. And does anyone know about the walks to get to casino or out to strip? Which "wing" I suppose, would be the shortest. So which room would be in that wing?

Yes, the GO's are nicer. I would never stay in a FAB room. Flamingo as a whole is just sketchy. I guess it depends what your expectations are.

Thanks Heather, my expectations, since this trip in August is sort of a "what the heck, let's do Vegas again" even though i'm already booked for May/Nov. The Flamingo, Quad, Bally's, Rio, and Harrah's are comped and PH is only $25 for the whole week. I am staying at RIO and Bally's this year, i have already done Imperial Palace, so between Harrah's and Flamingo, and PH (which i have previously done) i decided on Bugsy's place. Since the temp will be 150 in the shade, the Flamingo pool will occupy much of my time. I'm already comped with a Fab Luxury Strip View, so the sandwich i hope will work. If i'm stuck in a non GO room, well, Vegas is a gamble.

I have stayed at the Flamingo more than any other property. I usually stay in a Fab room as I get them comped. I would go with the luxury room. You run the risk of having a room overlooking the Linq construction and possibly dealing with the noise. The rooms are the same except the view.

I agree with Funkhouser that 4 years ago it was worth the upgrade to the Go room. With the remodel the Fab rooms are ok. The bathrooms are weak and that is where the Go rooms have a big advantage to go along with higher floors and better views.

For me on a solo trip or a guys trip I like the Flamingo. I just need the room to sleep and sanitize. I am not too worried about how nice my room is when I get back to the room at 0600 with a bac of 0.15. Having said that I stay at a nicer property when the wife is with me.

I booked a Fab Deluxe room at $41 per night. We are going on a Sun-Thurs in Sept. If you do the $20 sandwich would it be more likely that you get upgraded to a View room? Or is it possible to be upgraded to a GO room? It really doesn't matter what we get. I know we might not get any type of upgrade, and that's ok too.. It's Vegas, why not start out the gambling with the room? lol I know that we will probably get an email before we leave offering an upgrade to a GO room? We don't have very high expectations for our room. All we require is clean sheets and no bugs. LOL So we aren't picky!
