    My Trip Report

As previously posted my husband and I took my daughter (six months pregnant with third child) and son-in-law - their first time to vegas. We had a free room offer at the Excalibur and got them a room for $45.00 a night. Took Midwest out of Milwaukee Tuesday morning - seemed like the longest flight ever. Very disappointed - no movie. A muffin for breakfast. We took carry on and got to Vegas at 10:30 a.m. Grabbed a cab and got the Excalibur with long lines for check in. We had never stayed there - and had not played there muche either. So we were quite surprised to have been offered the free room. Thanks to this board I had seen something about checking in at the VIP section so I tried it. Walked right in presented my players card and got our room imeediately. They weren't clean yet but we were given the keys and told to put our stuff in them anyways. Very efficient and friendly. Signed the kids up for a players card - got a free $25.00 comp for meals and we had received and dinner comp $45.00 for our anniversary coming up also.

Played at the Excalibur for a while - I play slots (quarters and dollars) hubby plays video poker, black jack - on this trip he tried 3 card poker which he liked a lot (he only did well downtown though). Son-in-law visited every poker room he could find - he was like taking a kid to disney world!

We ate the breakfast buffet at Excalibur - not terrible - not great but it was free so how can you complain. Played mostly close to our hotel first day and night. Had a good band in the casino at the Excalibur.

Wed - Hit Luxor (I loved the Luxor - of course that's the casino I did the best at!), Mandaly Bay is beautiful. Bellagio conservatory was gorgeous with the Chinese New Year's theme. Venetian shops were fabulous. I always love NYNY, MGM is still huge. After a long day my daughter had had enought and decided to stay in and order room service. Hubby, son-in-law and myself took cab downtown to Golden Nugget - forgot to mention it rained all day. This is where hubby found 3 card poker and did pretty good at it. Son-in-law didn't - he played blackjack and did okay - but he wanted to see Binions so he and I went across the street so he could play in their poker room. I got to see the light show while the guys gambled. Wouldn't mind staying downtown on our next trip to Vegas.

Thurs - last day got up early feeling pretty discouraged. Had not hit anything been feeding the slots and getting very little return. But my luck started to change. Hit $375 first thing. Moved on - hit $1600. all before breakfast - things are looking up! Went to Mandaly Bay had breakfast and went to the shark exhibit. We all enjoyed it - I can see why they have to charge for it. Back to Excalibur (left son-in-law in poker room at MB)! Over to MGM - played Elvis nothing. The Lion was not out in their exhibit. Back to Excalibur - daughter wanted to lay down. Played more slots - won another $500 at Excalibur. Time to pack up and check out - had late check out. When we checked out they comped my daughter's room both nights plus both our late check outs and all the meals we had charged so the only cost we had was what meals we had not charged and the air fare! Put our bags in storage used our last $45.00 meal coupon for dinner in their cafe - had the filet which was pretty good hubby had fish which he said was okay. Kids ate at the Italian - they said it was good.

Moved on to the Luxor. Well I was HOT!! Hit another $2,000 jackpot. Plus another $800, plus another $500. but now it was time to go meet up with the kids and get to the airport - boo hoo!!! I was on a roll!!! And wouldn't you know it. We get to the airport at 10:30 for our 12:30 flight and find out it's been delayed till 1:55!!!! Low ceiling in Vegas they said! None of us were very happy but what are you going to do. So we played the quarter slots at the aiport - just donating and killing time. Luckily the four hour trip took only 3 hours home and we were back to freezing cold Wisconsin Friday morning only an our late!

Final thoughts - would stay at the Excalibur again. The staff was slow but courteous. Food wasn't great but can't complain too much when it's free.

Loved downtown - would like to spend more time down there.

Gambling - figure hubby and I came out ahead thanks to my luck the last day. Kids may have lost a little. Daughter played quarter slots and probably broke even or came out a little ahead. Son-in-law played poker and lost but not a lot or so he says!!! All in all had another fabulous time. Son-in-law already trying to finagle another trip back!!!

And when we got home there was another offer from the Excalibur with free room for 2 free nights and $200 cash!!!! Now where's that calendar......

great report! What machines were you playing when you hit those big pay outs? Excalibur was very good to you .. I wouldn't blame you if you returned. Of course the son in law will want to join you. [IMG]

Actually I won the most at Luxor. I really like triple lucky 7 - but I did the best on the new Monte Carlo machines - they each have a progressive jackpot and I won 2 different jackpots one at Excalibur and one at Luxor. Then I moved on to Wheel of Fortune - trying to win the big one you know!!! Was fun while it lasted!

The Excalibur is the first hotel where I racked up comps at... I played craps at the same table for 9 hours straight one time. When I was done, I went to my first host, Mary Beth Easter, and she told me that whenever I needed a hotel to stay at I could call her and she would take care of me! On my next trip I called her and she asked me how many nights I needed and when I asked her what the limit was she said 8, but she could squeeze in another night if I needed it! MY JAW DROPPED ON THE SPOT! I only needed two nights, and over the years I utilized those other ones. She was awesome... I was drinking heavily that night and really don't remember doing to much more than $5 pass with full odds(2x) and $12 on the 6 and 8 everytime come out roll...

Now with the One Club, I don't know if it the same but when I called last year for the Madness Trip, I was told by another host that I could do $25/HAND for a room comp and $10 for casino rate(Which is usually the same as their lowest special....) So, I agree with your input on Excalibur comps!
