So, here's the deal... I'm mostly a downtown person and have an upcoming short (3 night) trip. Staying downtown. I planned on going to the Strip (and closely Off-Strip) for only one day of my trip.

But just now, in the mail, I received from Terrible's a "complimentary buffet voucher" and $5 freeplay. Thinking it'd be a shame to let it go to waste, I guess I have to visit Terrible's now.

But this means that I'll probably end up going to the Strip/Off-Strip now for 2 days, if not 3, because:

    * I have to also burn 12,xxx TR credits at CET properties on something, or else they'll expire. Yes, I know that's only about $12, but that means a discount on a buffet somewhere CETish. And I usually only eat a buffet in Vegas once a day.

    * Near-strip is the Gold Coast, and I usually use the "Earn 200 points, get a free buffet!" ACG coupon (good +EV value usually).

So, this means for the "one buffet a day I eat" I would need to leave downtown all three days! Hmmm.

I know, I know, there are starving children in Africa and life is so hard and I'm just whining and being childish, but... I guess I'm saying that I'm somewhat annoyed that Terrible's even sent me a mailer for that. I'm too frugal to simply just throw it away, and now my plans have changed.

So, throwing it out there... ever been ANNOYED at getting something in the mail from Vegas offering you a comp?

Personally, I would be annoyed that they would only give me a $20 buffet and a $5 freeplay. Not worth driving around and taking time myself. I do respect those that enjoy doing that. I get some of those and throw them away.

As to the TR credits, if you have 12,000+, that is $120.00, not $12.00

12000 Total Rewards credits is $120 in comps, not $12. Also, you can "refresh" the expiry on them by earning a single credit in a TR casino. For example, after your Gold Coast buffet, 2 minutes on a machine at the Rio, and you get another 6 months.

And I always heard that the Terrible's buffet was so bad that free was too expensive ... do you know what you're getting? I'm all for being frugal, but that offer hardly seems worth the time and guess to head there.

As to your general question, Vegas casinos rarely send me much mail, but Caesars Windsor has been carpet bombing me with ticky tack offers, and that has been getting on my nerves. I got back from Vegas after a week away, and had 4 DIFFERENT mailers from Caesars Windsor there.

They call it Terribles for a reason. From what I have been told, it is the buffet. LOL I agree, not worth the trip even if they are paying you!

Sorry, I made a typo... I logged into my TotalRewards account just now and I have 1,189 TR credits, so that's $11.89 ("twelve dollars").

As for Terrible's, they used to have 9/6 full pay JoB machines at the quarter level *AND* they are very, very close to the airport (on a bus line). I am by no means a high roller...

...but last year, I did have a late flight home and upon checking out of my room at Harrah's, decided to put in a 3-hour long VP session at Terrible's (due to, again, proximity to the airport). Hence their "interest" in me.

    The problem is, since then:

    * There is no more 9/6 JoB; they downgraded their VP paytables. I sometimes play Bdlx, but that, too, is also short pay.

    * I never really liked Terrible's too much anyway. Too crowded-- their machines too close together. Not the best smell, either. If you've never been there, believe me-- you aren't missing much.

    * It's too far east and not a place I would normally trek out to.

    * I drink Sam Adams and they have it (bottles), but it wasn't served very cold. I like my beer ice cold.

So, hence my bellyaching and complaining.

But I know that I'll end up there on my next trip anyway, to use my minimal comps. lol I'm such a sucker. :faint:

Yes. The first ever offer I received from Cosmo was for .............. $5 in freeplay! :faint: Thanks Cosmo! With those winnings I can that surgery I've been needing!

I think the mailer they sent me cost more than five bucks, lol
