When we were in Vegas last, quite a few years ago, Ellis Island had a steak and shrimp dinner for like $6.99 or something like that. It wasn't on their menu. It was something you had to specifically ask for. It was great. I learned about it on a message board like this one. Does anyone know if they have anything like that now there?

It is still their 24/7 special and still not on the menu. It is 7.99 but includes a homemade root beer or a micro brew, still the salad, fillet of sirloin, and green beans. I believe you need to go to promotions and get a coupon from a kiosk and then to the restaurant. I didnt make it there on my last trip but there are several posts about the changes. It is still a good deal......and delicious.

Ms. Gecko and I were at Ellis Island on Monday and still can't say enough good things about the BBQ chicken and ribs combo. We used to get the off-menu steak special, but have only eaten in the BBQ area the past dozen times. Especially with the ACG 2-for coupon, it's a terrific deal. It tastes great and we'll never be able to polish of an entire meal by ourselves. And since we never eat on an empty stomach, we always allow at least an hour at the bar drinking their brews and playing VP first.

I agree with Turtleman...as a person who mostly doesn't like ribs, I have to say the ribs at their BBQ restaurant are spectacular! In fact, the next time we make it to Vegas, I'm gonna have just the 1/2 rack by themselves. The chicken was also very tasty, and the breast was moist and juicy. They do a great job there! Also, the root beer is very good as well

Ms. Gecko prefers the BBQ chicken, while I'm a "rib man." As a result, I ate almost all of her ribs along with mine and half my chicken, while she couldn't even finish all of her chicken. Combined with the toast, corn, beans, and slaw, two platters from EI could keep us going for an entire week at home – no joke. We tried the root beer several years ago and found it way too sweet for our taste. I much prefer their amber ale.

Ms. Gecko's even talking about possibly staying at Tuscany on one of our offers so we'll be close to EI! (She didn't appreciate my suggestion of the Super 8 next door!)

    steak special

My wife and I used to get the steak special at Ei every trip to Vegas and always enjoyed it. Then the last couple of trips started to sample other restaurants. All you have to do is ask for the steak special when ordering. Unless they recently changed their policy you do not have to get a kiosk coupon. The steak is excellent with delicious green beans, baked or mashed potato and either a homemade root beer or a homemade microbrewery beer.

We would only do the LVA - 2/1 BBQ coupon at Ellis, if we had a fridge AND a microwave back in the room. Two BBQ platters is way more than we could eat in one sitting ... even for the "Buddha".

we love the island and spend much time there every trip!!!

side note...we got bumped on our second trip to vegas but had never made it to the island before, so the airline rep goes through the lists of hotels they could put us up at and mentions super 8 ellis, then moves onto the doubletree and is about to put us up there for the night...my wife...says "super 8 ellis??? is that the one connected to ellis island? yes says the rep, but you don't want to stay there...we politely decline the doubletree and request the super 8! terrible room, but that one night stay made us love that place more than we ever thought we would!!!:beer:

As the early poster stated, they have recently changed their policy. You have to have a Players club card, go to the kiosk, insert card, click on the special, print the coupon and then go to the restaurant. Also, of you dont have it and try to order they will make you do all the steps I listed above (learned the hard way). One coupon is good for a whole table of people.

Thank you all for your replies. Been 10 years so wasn't sure it was still there. I just loved their steak n shrimp. Wife does love bbq chicken so she might do that. I don't remember what she ate there before.

    Regarding the steak special...

...I was just there 3 weeks ago and they recently changed the rules and upped the price one dollar. It's now $8.99.

    "The rules" are as follows:

    - You must use your Passport players club card (free to sign up) and gamble at least $1 (one dollar) coin-in, on any slot or video poker machine. Yes, ONE DOLLAR (or more) coin-in is a requirement.

    - After the requirement, you can go to a kiosk and swipe the Passport card and get a coupon for the $8.99 steak special.

I did this during my trip.

The steak special is still the same as always:

    - 10 oz. Top Round steak
    - includes choice of fries or baked potato
    - includes vegetable (green beans)
    - prior to all of this, your choice of salad or soup
    - 20 oz. draft beer (or root beer)

I enjoyed it as always. I've been getting it since the price was $4.99 (many years ago).

Not sure why they require the $1 gambling pre-requisite these days. But you can always put a dollar in a video poker machine and play four hands at a $0.25/hand if you like. Or, as one poster above stated, just play until you get hungry.

Sorry, I don't know what the price would be if you don't do the coupon-from-the-kiosk-after-$1-or-more-coin-in thing. But I'm sure it's more.

WoW, the steak special is becoming elusive!! ha! With the VP I usually end up paying about $50 for it anyways! oh well, at least the beer is good while you are waiting, and I have noticed the wait for the restaurant can be quite long at times.

Yeah, last time I waited ~45 minutes for a seat and dumped $40 into 3 play nickels with 9/6 DDB Quick Quads while waiting. :grrr:

Steak and Shrimp is at Lucky 7's in the Hard Rock Casino. It's a good deal, but the steak at EI is far better.

I don't think it ever has been (not in last 12 years anyway).

I also rate the BBQ better than the steak special

I know the streak special is 24/7 but what about the bbq? I am one of those who has only had the streak special and would like to try the bbq.
